Universal mobile phone charger in the air

About time. Have to carry 3 different chargers with me as it is...
They should sommer standardize laptop chargers as well
 
the idea is good, now only if they could increase battery time too
 
Mmm. Initially sounds like a good idea, but I have concerns:
Does this mean my SOTA PDA with relativelty huge battery will take ages to charge because it comes with the same charger as the cheapest Chokia? Also, will all handsets use micro-USB for power/data, which would be a pity for those with hi-end handsets?
 
Why didnt Nokia et al adopt the mini USB style charger long ago? My Blackberrys have benefited from having one for as long as I can recall.

I have used mini-USB for years, and am well resourced at all points to plug in. But the new chargers will be micro-USB, so neither your BBs nor my HTCs will work unless they too change to micro-USB.

Blast - so then that's a whole new set of cables on top of all my existing ones?
 
nice- i saw in a shopping center a cell phone charging station with multi plugs and coin slot heh....
 
This is GREAT news - finally we won't have to go around the office or holiday resort begging sheepishly: "Nokia charger, anyone?"

As to battery life - I would not mind if they sell phones with the standard size battery, but then you can buy a bigger battery (will make the phone a bit bulkier) for longer life.

I wouldn't mind the slightly bigger phone - as long as battery life is improved.

But, as Arthur said - charge time will be drastically impacted if you use a weak charger.

Hope they get it sorted out - soon.

Not fun having three different types of chargers and having to rummage through the drawer to find them.
 
mislead me slightly when i saw the title.. my mind instantly when to those 'over-the-air' charging technology that's being developed, where u can say 'look ma, no wires!' :(

Anyways, a universal charger is good too.
