Lack of bandwidth hurts cellular groups

What is stopping Dark Fibre from just going ahead and laying the cable anyway? When customers know it is there, they will start leasing the bandwidth. Sounds to me like the other providers are just too reluctant to lay their own networks.
 
In other words Telkoms Rbn earnings over the last few years were never reinvested in infrastructure. So.. what the hell were you all paying for?

This may give some hint of the challenges a player like this will always face. If it's cheaper to build than to buy, which it must be for three large carriers building together, who will buy their services?
 
Actually, if the celery operators stopped trying to rip us off with their prices, chances are more people would use them anyway and they would still make a fat profit. No, they just want to make BIGGER profits.
 
I bet if there were alot more competitors in small communities then there wouldn't be a lack of strategies to give more people internet acess. But because big companies only care about big fish(metropolls) the small countryside communities will always have lack of fibre access.

SA’s cellular operators would be raking in even more millions of rand than they already are if they had sufficient bandwidth to cover more users across the country.

And our soon-ex president stated at the opening of the IPL that we had a magnificent telecommunications network!

wow, and now they realize that bandwidth is an issue.....lol...it's a pitty they didnt employee real market researches years ago to come up with this conclusion!
