Vodacom to launch Google G2 phone

Haha! Nice timing by Vodacom...launched just after MTN's fanfare of the HTC Dream.
 
the Iphone,G1,G2 are overpriced if you want it on prepaid just get it for half the price on ebay.com or ebay.co.uk brand new
 
Yippeee....cant wait to see how my clients take to this phone. No one is going to stop you from buyng this phone online from Ebay...but remember in Afrikaans we have a saying...."goedkoop koop is duur koop". If something goes wrong with that overseas phone, Vodacare will not touch it! You have been warned. :D
 
I wonder how long will it take before I can get it on my contract from Nashua, I would like to have one by end of next week. I almost flushed my current phone down the toilet this morning from frustration.
 
Why is it so expensive, is it the phone or the data bundle? I was thinking of going from nokia e61i to HTC with Andriod on it. @ not higher than R167, what the hell is this? :mad:

I have just come back from Europe with a white G2, which I got on Ebay for 349 Euros = R3978 !!! If it breaks I will fly over again with the savings from this one phone alone.

By the way - The G2 costs 529 Euros at Vodaphone G2 in Germany. That is R6030 and still R2238 cheaper than here in South Africa with Vodacom. You can even claim the 19% VAT back and then the phone only costs +/-429 Euros.

Now if this is not a ripoff then what is!!

We always get ripped off here... It's very sad
 
Perhaps it has something to do with shipping costs? Europe is a lot closer to the places where the hardware gets manufactured is it not? I have noticed a lot of Blackberries now get made in Hungary and Bulgaria for example. Think this might be a factor in the higher prices we pay here?
