Should I be worried?

I have a new contract with a 2GB data bundle and a data SIM, and there were some MB carried over from last month.

Last week sometime I received an SMS stating we'd used 50% of our bundle, last Saturday received an SMS stating the bundle was depleted even though vodacom4me and *111#,1,4 showed 1.2GB remaining.

I called 111 and was told to ignore the SMS, we did have an active data bundle and to we should continue to use it as normal. I have a reference number, but didn't receive feedback as promised.

Yesterday *111#,1,4 still showed over 1GB remaining but this morning *111#,1,4 shows -1023804852KB available and vodacom4me shows -999809.43 MB available.

Anyone else seeing strange data bundle balances?

This is why I refuse to use CDBs - you're totally in the dark with CDBs - as is Vodacom.

Once realtime data usage monitoring is available for CDBs, I will seriously reconsider, until that time I will continue to use PPDBs.
 
Sounds familiar, i've had that before....the helpdesk would tell me "you have 1GB left" ...but i would know i don't....and after a few days when the system updates? Guess what...suddenly 1GB gone ;). Worst part is, then i can't hold Vodacom/MTN responsible for misleading me...

I've come to realise by now, contract-data tracking is extremely unreliable if you want to see "right now" . If you're uncertain it's always best to shut it off for a few days and check again.

Sadly in my case these things has NEVER , EVER been in my favor...if the contract says 1GB remaining it'll always be LESS than 1GB. There's no "bonus" mistakes , it always come back to to bite you. So if i see different reports and one of them says my data is gone...then i go with that one..never the one that says "i still have data".

This is why I refuse to use CDBs - you're totally in the dark with CDBs - as is Vodacom.
There were advantages for going contract, in my case iPhone for the wife and data SIM for me. I hope I don't end up regretting it.
 
So now I'm down to (up to?) -1200560860KB available.

This after calling on Saturday and being told my original query was still open but that it would be resolved by this Tuesday (two days ago) at the latest and if I did go out of bundle I would be charged.

In the meantime I have received my second batch of "you have used 82% of your bundle", "you have used 51% of your bundle" and "your bundle is depleted" messages this month.

Nobody at 155 can give me any idea of how much data I have used, how much of my 2GB bundle I have left, or how much of my 300MB+ carried over from last month I have left.

The end of the month is just around the corner, and I'm wondering how Vodacom are going to calculate my invoice, what's happened to my carried over data from last month (vodacom4me also reports it as a huge negative number) and how much data will be carried over to next month.

v3g knows of a trick to get more up-to-date info - you draw a usage report on v4me for your contract, which should show what has trickled through to the billing system(s), at best you might be able to guestimate slightly better than before.
 
I see they did call you to explain that they're working on it?
I got a call back on Saturday the 23rd after I called to find out what was going on. That was when I was told it would be resolved by Tuesday.

I still have the problem, going to call them now and find out if they can tell me my balance yet.

The consultant was unable to give me any indication of how many MB I had used, but told me that according to the proposed bill for the period 2009/05/03 00:00 - 2009/05/30 00:00 there is a charge for out-of-bundle data for the amount of R95.32 excluding VAT. He advised that I call 155 during office hours on Monday for an update.

According to my own records I should have a couple of hundred MB still available in-bundle, and I recall there was 300MB+ carried over from last month.
 
Just received an SMS saying I've used 54% of my data bundle.
*111#,1,4 now says "You have 975.18MB available."

Looks like it's fixed now, thanks v3g! :D
 
:mad: Just got my invoice for last month, there's a data usage charge of R108.66 (R95.32 + VAT), even though vodacom4me shows I carried over 166.24MB to this month.
 
Vodacom have determined I'm due a credit refund of R106 plus VAT. :cool:
