Samsung vs. Seagate

Hey guys.

Was looking at getting some new HDD's. and was wondering if i should get samsung ones that are cheaper, or pay the premium and just get the seagates ?

are samsungs on par nowadays?
 
WTF - I just paid R1,115 for a 1TB drive from Sahara for my media center.
 
I used to be a firm believer in Seagate. But after their debacle which seems to still continue, I'd almost rather go for Samsung. It might just be a better buy.
 
Wow ! R861 for a 1TB drive :p
But I'll wait for the prices to come down more with the new R/$ rate and also the new low power 2TB seagates to mature a bit in the market before I buy.
 
prefer WD - after many years in IT (about 29 in total)most come backups were samsungs, least in WD & Seagate (i think these two are on par)
 
I haven't had a Samsung fail on me yet - I've had Seagate and Western Digital failures - most failures coming from Seagate.
 
I'm actually really tempted to try Samsung.
I have had Maxtor (a lot), IBM (a lot), WD (some what less), Seagate (only once) failures but I have never tried Samsung... Maybe I'll but one of those 1TB drives.

2) Samsung
3) Seagate
4) Pen & Paper
5) Maxtor
 
i've replaced 6 of my 4x500gb seagate's
Got one of these samsung yesterday...awesum so far :D
 
Seagate is a load of KRAP!!!

Sorry but i have had about 4 of them fail on me as of late, and i mean they are not even the newer technology... so i'm tired of seagate, will NEVER buy it again...
 
haha.. oh well bought the 1TB samsung.. its a steal at that price.. can't even get 750GB HDD's at that price
 
I have a samsung drive... It just seems smoother, quieter and cooler. Had loads of seagates in the passed, i do think the Samsung is beter.
 
yeah Vegeta, those things are Ice Cold compared to even WD !

ROFL yeah suuuure blame it on peer pressure and not all those dead Seagates in your cupboard :D ;)
