New Telkom ADSL wholesale pricing

You must be stupid to commit to a long term contract at this stage.
 
Let me be the first to say that I welcome any reduction in wholesale bandwidth pricing to ISPs, even with the condition of signing a one year or longer contract. The minimum committed usage and hence a minimum monthly bill however does not help any ISP.

It will be interesting to hear what service providers have to say about the new system – will you sign a one year contract?
 
Faak!! I'm so tired of Geldbom and their nasty tricks.

We all know that prices will come down when Seacom is connected to Neotel...and now Melkhom wants to try and put the ISPs behind bars with their horrible contracts.

I HATE TELKOM SO MUCH!!!!

wow...telkom are suddenly offering lower costs if you fix in long term contracts, so that came as a big surprise didnt it.....? well if anyone is stupid enough to sign into these contracts then that would be the surprise here as everyone expected telkom to make these offers.

Now I wonder if SEACOM / Neotel will be playing open book with ISPs regarding "upfront thumb suck" prices.

I for one would rather see what is growing on the other side of the fence before I would sign such a contract.

Also what will be interesting to see if there is any mention of " only allowed to connect to Telkom " or any mention of fixed pricing for that duration of the ball trap. :eek:

Is telkom trying lock people in on contract do to the seacom cable, not worth
it. besides 10% may only save R30 PM on R280 pm
 
This is so lame from Telkom really. Will there actually be ISP's that fall for this?

If they do then they deserve each other
 
i can proudly say i have been telkom free for more than 7 months!
 
Actually, I think this is great news - shows that seacom is at least somewhat threatening to telkoms monopoly :D

More proof that even Telkom believes Seacom will be a ROARING success... don't sign guys, Seacom will be here soon.
 
The minimum monthly usage may be low enough that any worthwhile ISP can meet that minimum even during quiet months. Without seeing the threshold, we can't be sure. I don't think SAIX resellers are necessarily in the game to provide internet services - it's just a convenient commodity to sell. Serious ISPs are gathering their own infrastructure, network and international capacity one way or another to challenge the giants and transform the market.

Just remember that the amazon river starts with a single raindrop joining the source.

Every little bit helps.

Not really underhanded, just blatantly stupid actually. I don't know how Telkom expects any ISP to consider this as a benefit. A rather pathetic attempt on the part of Telkom to keep their over-inflated prices at that level for longer.
