After all the Neotel problems, WHO is going to port to them please tell me?
 
Whoever is reading this - please don't switch to Neotel... unless you want to screw yourself.

It's funny how people don't seem to think outside their own tiny boxes, or are the people on this forum actively asleep? Any corporate with 1000 numbers is obviously using a fixed line service, not a single wireless line. Neotel's corporate voice services are cheaper, more flexible and mostly delivered on fibre (unlike a certain well-known copper recycling supplier of old-fashioned ISDN lines). I would have thought porting was a no-brainer.

I was actually refering to this part of their statement:

"He believes the launch of individual porting will be the birth of true competition in the telecommunications market. “The comparisons have been done which reveal significant savings for consumers on their home and business phones,” says Mattiello."

So my comment still stands.

It's becoming increasingly annoying in this country that all the best services and technologies seem to be preserved for business and corporate customers and not residential customers. Residential customers always seem to get the short end of the stick.

Why is Neotel not laying fibre to my house? Why would anyone want to use their wireless services when there are far superior companies and technologies around, e.g. 3G, Wimax, etc?

Who gives a **** about geographic number portability if you're a residential customer? There's no one to port it to!! For all intents and purposes there is still only one fixed line operator in South Africa.

I'd say the reason they're not laying it to your house, but rather to the business park down the road is because the business park is WAY more profitable for them
 
Ag man, those guys at Neotel should become a "fixed" line business, as they all led us to believe in the launch...their wireless option is very unreliable.

Agree here. From point of view of business, they are looks like only "fiber-to-the-businesses":sick: provider, hence they are fixed line operator. But for a residential user they are just another "less-than-average" wireless provider.
 
Why are they welcoming it? They can't really apply it.. they first need a working service.
 
Someone give me a prod when I can apply for residential ADSL2+ or even better residential FTTH.
 
I welcome competition, would just be nice if Telkom actually had some
