Telkom II

With Telkom having held the country to ransom since 1997, government has taken a leaf out of Terminator and is building another giant to take it on.

Lloyd Gedeye at his best again :D

Lets see what our Skynet will have to offer.

One of the conditions in it's license perhaps should be, that when goverment does walk away from it, is that open access to the network should be readily available.

We don't need another segregated govermental loop.
In the next 5 years starting now, the loop should be made available to anyone that wants to utilise it.

Telkom v2 - so what - where's the privatization

This government is supposed to concentrate on service delivery, not find new ways of justifying their ludicrous prices! It would be nice if they took their foot off our throats

They flippen caused the problem in the first place, and ps ain't telkom halve government owned?

So what's the worst that can happen? I'd rather have a national asset being utilized to reduce broadband costs than muddling for yet more years under the present Telkom fixed-line stranglehold. We've all bought this network with our tax rands. Let us at it, already.

Think these companies complaining about Infraco license conditions have consumer interests at heart. Think again. They are at the hearings to protect and expand their own profit margins.

Where is the voice of consumers at this hearings? Whether you agree with the government or not, they are the only party here that is batting on your team. And if that dismal thought doesn't reduce you to prayer, nothing will.

Kekekekekeke ... this is hilarious!
I wonder who they're going to sell this one to to enrich the next bunch of Elephants.

This is like pouring a petrol contaminated bucket of water on a house fire.

Really?
74%?
So is this just another parasitatal looking for eventual bailout when they realise we didn't need them?

mandate

Infraco's presentation to Icasa indicated that it plans to service large corporate customers and government entities

Brought into existence by the Broadband Infraco Act of 2007, Infraco's mandate is defined as "expanding the availability, capacity and affordability of access to electronic communications".

This includes servicing "underdeveloped" areas and must be based on "international best practice and pricing".

Huh?
