SABC ‘spends big on IT hardware for strike’

Ja, they have plenty of money to throw around on stuff like this. The government has an endless supply of money to keep financing them.

It is, if its for a one time eventuality that they SHOULD have actually planned for and taken into account in any number of previous years.

when you are already 900 million Rand in the hole, another 700,000 is like spitting over a waterfall. Still it's enough of an insult to the taxpayer and license payers for us to be highly offended at their crass stupidity and devil-may-care attitude. Bunch of useless to$$ers.

It would be really hilarious if the SABC continue to operate as normal even with 70% of the staff on strike :D

With their level of quality and service, I'm sure they could pull it off easily and no-one would notice any difference.

It would be, seeing as the "happy" staff are probably the more incompetent ones. Parastatals seem to work that way; management relies on lowly "consultants" to make them look good and sound clever.

So we wont get crap SABC tv broadcast for a while (hopefully 4ever)
whoo whoo

Guys stop wasting tax payers money, every government institution has failed to deliver its core services. Now can we hire competent people to do their job please.

"THE SABC has spent hundreds of thousands of rands on laptops and computers to prepare for a possible strike by its workforce, and is setting up a temporary broadcast facility away from their head office, according to a trade union leader."
It seems that they can run the sabc with a few laptops then what do they need all the other people for?
