Drop interconnect rates, says ex-Vodacom CEO

Then why didn't he do it when he was there. Talk is cheap.

My thoughts exactly. Besides why do it when he was there, and affect that major bonus he used to get!
 
The last paragraph sums up the chances of that happening.
 
Methinks AK-C is a complete and utter two-faced idiot. He's the same dummy who orchestrated the gentleman's agreement with MTN about the same interconnect fees he's bitching about in London before Cell C's entrance in the market and now he's a pro-consumer crusader? WTF???

As I said in another post previously, he was the one that masterminded the high rate in the first place - brilliant for VC but not for the customer. I'm glad he is now using his insider knowledge to spill the beans about what the real price should be!

I think we should all push for a 99c/minute starting rate which is what the operators had been anticipating anyway. Even if a lower rate is selected, it would be over time, so 99c is a good start for year 1 and more easily achieved.

The incumbents will see that their call volumes (and revenue) goes up anyway as prices come down (including from increased incoming overseas calls) and they may be inspired to drop further.
 
I think he is bored in his early retirement, thats why he keeps popping up at telecomms conferences... he has nothing to do but to stir
 
I don't get why he is suddenly campaigning against past practices he started. Hoping it will unfold in the near future.
 
he says a lot of things since leaving vodacom, most if it what people were asking for while he was making mountains of cash at vodacom.
 
The interconnect fee should be cost based that's the only true, proper and fair method. I doubt it would work out to more than 25c per minute. Thumb sucking a figure would make it no better than the current system. Cost based and only cost based.

Is he trying to control things from retirement? Maybe he has a vested interest, like shares...

Vodacom seems to be attacking other people to deflect the attention from themselves?
 
If they do drop it, i think we should be refunded for all these years they've been stealing from us.
 
What else would you expect from a former Telkom employee.
