Credit Health, any check it from time to time ?

It would be nice to be able to review your credit rating on a monthly basis. Any retard could blacklist me and chances are I wouldn't even know about it until I go in to the bank to apply for something.

Just applied for mine - Seemingly FNB thinks I'm a credit risk now that I'm semi-retrenched!

AFAIK you are entitled to one free credit check per year according to the NCA

Hmmm putting all my details on a site like that makes me worry.... yea its all good that its for credit and what not... but then they know my credit status and all my personal info. not cool

Shot. I've got my report already.

They give you details for XDS only. You have to pay to get the full report.

I got a score of 789 (Good) with nothing older than current.

Accounts covered: Vodacom, MTN, FNB Credit Cards.

Got an email for another free one this week. Submitted the online form and just got another report back.

Score: 803 (very good) :D.

I just put my neighbours details in, he's got a lower credit rating than the 789 listed above.
Now I'll wait to see if he starts getting spam on his telephone numbers.

Where'd you get a copy of his ID document?

I have been getting reports every three months for the last two years haven't had any spam or funny calls, they have all your details anyway.......

I'm on 833 points.

I actually remember paying for this same report a few months back :/

Well you can at the 2 big credit bureaus .
Transunion : http://mytransunion.co.za/MainPages/MyCredit/MyCredit.aspx
and
Experian : http://www.experian.co.za

Edit: I see Transunion's package for full notification = R200 a year. Still cheaper than a TV license and of more use i guess ;)

* Updates may show possible irregular use of your information, which can indicate that your personal information is being used fraudulently to access credit
* You have unlimited online access 24/7 to your easy-to-read TransUnion Credit Report

* You are kept informed by receiving an e-mail or sms notification when anything changes on your credit report

They have quite a few packages, that is relatively cheap [i..e R100/R200 a year]. I use Transunion and are on a package where they email you everytime your credit report changed or is being checked...you can then log in and see in full who did the check [as part of the full credit report].

So you don't have to check monthly manually. Of course if you don't want to automatic monitor option you can just sign up for full access to your report at any time which is cheaper.

Unlike going directly to Transunion/Experian, looks like these guys are a kind of middle-man, you pay them and then they pull your credit reports from the credit bureau. Not sure how safe this is, but since i know Experian and Transunion do not always tie up 100% , it's useful to get an aggregate of both places.
