Old SA tv series

I hear they are giving away box sets of Tele Fun Quiz on Bluray and DVD :cool:

The SABC would not care. If they had any brains at all this locally produced stuff could be digitally remastered and sold on DVD. Part of history will eventually rot away in their archives.

I can't help wondering whether that's what they want though. Firstly all the old series were made in the "bad old days" <insert scary echo effect here>, and secondly what better way to help with the demise of a culture by not allowing people access to it's televised history?
 
The only reason i ask is because today at mayville mall in pta i saw Gavin van den Berg, and i started thinking about all the old tv series.

And why there aint any dvd,s to buy we as South Africans will buy it np.

I mean i see Zack du plessis all the time at maders, and series like orkney snork nie, should actually be on dvd for sale.

its really sad
 
at least stuff like: Heidi, Liewe Heksie and Niels Holgerson has been made available. Already started buying it for my kids. It is a lot better for them to watch then the junk "kids programs" on these days

Not true. The SABC are re-running a lot of old TV shows from the 80's and early 90's.

They probably don't have the money to commission new content due to their financial *****up

I can't help thinking that if the ANC hadn't effed up the SABC that they'd have enough money to buy in decent shows so re-runs aren't necessary and could put all those old series on dvd/bluray/betamax/vhs. They really couldn't give two hoots since it's part of the old apartheid white mans culture no money should be spent on it...

Do you guys remember Alf? (it was translated into Afrikaans also i think). That was just the best "old" tv series ever!
