Spectrum battle: Will Vodacom get the spectrum they want?

It's disgusting that a racist thing like BEE prevents Vodacom from applying. Yes it's not supposed to be racist if implemented properly, but it's current implementation is racist.

It doesn't make sense for me to disqualify a holding company because a subsidiary owns spectrum. Surely there should be a way to transfer the spectrum rights from the subsidiary to the holding company, who can then allow its subsidiary to use it again.

It was bad enough for Icasa when they thought it was all about WiMAX by adding LTE and harmonisation to the mix you've just extended the regulations by a solid 5 years

ICASA can't currently even regulate any of the other telecom's issues from ADSL, LLU to Interconnect Rates. What makes you or any other company/individual out there think that ICASA is going to do a good job with this?

-> Has ICASA done a good job on anything?
-> Have they proved competence in any of the technically governable areas of their mandate?
-> Has the cost of Telecom's come down?

I mean they dont even have a concrete definition for the term "Broadband"...
They might have better luck trying to regulate the S.H.I.T. that comes out their A.S.S-Hole than our telecom's environment. They are about as useless as a fisherman on a boat with no fishing rod.

All this just IRK's the crap out of me! Put politics aside for god sake and hire competent people with a backbone! And by that I dont mean carrier grade backbone, I mean human bone, blood and tissue backbone :D hehehe

Hmm, this is strange. No talks about spectrum for ages now. Suddenly telscum breaks free from vodacon and telscum will need spectrum to build their wireless network.

Funny how now all of a sudden spectrum is a hot topic.

I was thinking the exact same thing, just along the lines of VC no longer propping up guavamunt's cash cow, so now they're getting screwed.

Down with ICASA! Their performance is dismal and its affecting the entire economy. Quality of life which the government is striving so hard to improve is being tarnished by ICASA's lack of performance...

This is governments way of thanking vodacom for selling those shares to the imperialists...
