Neotel explains uncapped WiMax 35GB fair usage limit

Unacceptable.

Neotel have direct access to seacom, as well as their own network. They should be looking to offer descent products.

Looks more like a back door in the contract in order for Neotel to stop providing a service if/when they feel like it, although if you look at the Neotel forum, there's not much of a service in any case ...

Here's the question. If I say download 100Gb's....over their fair usage cap, are they gonna charge me extra...or do you just get throttled?

I think from previous articles you will be throttled - not charged extra or cut off. There seems to be a fair amount of uncertainty about this from Neotel's side, which is typically an indication that nothing much will happen just yet ;)

Why don't they state it as it is - why all this BS in all telecoms marketing - it is CAPPED !!

Like the coffee shop around the corner from me - advertises BOTTOMLESS COFFEE - then in small print - only for extra 2 cups

Surely if there are financial/business/technical reasons why they can't allow more than 35Gb, they should call it a 35Gb service and not an uncapped service?

I work at a small company and we use around 50gb of data each month (mostly work related, but some youtube and facebook too :D )

I don't even want to know how a larger company is supposed to squeeze into a 35gb limit.

Notel is shooting themselves in the foot, loads of companies that would have jumped at this offer will be put off by the pathetically low "fair usage" policy. Who can afford to sign up for a product and then have that sword hanging over their heads?

Stupid stupid stupid notel.

What a crock of *****

Neotel you can't use the word uncapped when the product is in fact capped at 35GB.

Its about time the industry wakes up and realizes that 35GB might be more than the typical South African capped Internet user uses right now, but doesn't compare to international users.

By setting this "soft cap", they will create an artificial average of below that, as most people would not want to be marked as "abusers". The happened with the 3GB caps.

Fail news...
+1
every second article on MyBB's front page these days either 1) turns out to be some kind of hoax [such as the R8/GB local thing, or the similar fraudulent one a while back with those proxies], or 2) has some pretty bad spelling or grammar errors. Tolerable, but not so great in keeping one of SA's top site's image in reputable shape.. a bit more care should be taken about what ends up on the main page imho
I mean has anyone ever heard of "Social flu internet" ? Random, informal name... it should be obvious that they can't sustain low-cap accounts. Even if they're legit and making an effort to bring down the prices, then surely the last thing they'd want is publicity to this site anyway, because that would bring in thousands upon thousands of users - something I'm not tooo sure they'd want if they were running at a loss?
