I hope Telkom will upgrade our upload speeds soon. It's important for today's Internet.
I think ADSL 2+ will come into play here. Upload speeds do indeed become more important with today's applications...I just want faster FTP speeds

Lots of video services and stuff, these days. All these things need fast upload speeds. The Internet is becoming about social networking. There can be no multimedia rich social networking without good upload speeds. It's not all about traditional Internet sites any more. Internet, in 2009, is full of user generated content.

I'm not that bothered about speed, get us some realistic caps!

No ... speed is a definite must. I can download a 60MB file in a matter of minutes - but it takes me 3 or 4 hours (if not longer) to upload a file of similar size.
Other than that, all I can do is sigh and shake my head. I don't need the numbers to tell me something I already know.

I'm writing java webservices and deploying to a remote Glassfish server. Each write,compile,deploy,test cycle takes ages...

Maybe because we are South Africa?
I think the point is, that we are supposed to be better than the other African countries, but for some reason (ICASA, DoC), we are falling behind when it comes to things like telecoms.
