Best ADSL deals

Over the last few months there have been many ADSL ISP price cuts. Here are some of the best deals in the market today

Is the SAOL 384 fixed IP thing really uncapped??? can't seem to believe that, anyone using that service? can I please get some ideas to that.

Thanks

p.s. I am looking for something that will let me dl quite a bit of p2p over their 15MB softcap.

EDIT==

nvm, I already checked their web, its not uncapped, its R499 for 15GIGs thereafter they charge you R59 per gig, this deal is not uncapped, and its more expensive then Afrihost R29 per gig, check out this page http://www.saol.com/adsl7.php, and i only found this page after googling "fixed ip saol terms", somehow i think they are trying to hide this????

G-Connect's prices are very sweet when you consider that it is UNSHAPED and PREPAID ADSL. Add that to the fact that they will call you on a Sunday for support and that they always send an e-mail when they are going to do maintenance.

I recently had an issue with my G-Connect ADSL. Didn't last long since the next day I was called and the problem was resolved. Even got offered free bandwidth for the 'inconvenience'. Can't say I would use another ISP.

I dont know why it is in thew uncapped section of the article then :confused:

most of these uncapped deals are not true uncapped, a threshold is not uncapped!

Damn!! I read their page, and they must be deluded to think someone could "confuse" the offering as uncapped

:mad:

http://www.saol.com/adsl7.php
"This an uncapped account, the first 15Gigs are free, at the end of the month any usage over and above 15Gigs is billed at R59 per gig. This account is not capped at 15Gigs"

Lul wut?

well, in theory the account is not capped. You just have to pay more after 15gb's.

They are putting the telscum spin on the term "uncapped". Sure, we won't cap you. But you pay for your usage!

So, now we have:
Uncapped - The Myth (they way it is supposed to be)
Uncapped - With Throttling (Use as much as you want, but slowly please)
Uncapped - With "Acceptable Use Policy" (You can go nuts, just don't go too nuts)
Uncapped - But you pay for it (Sure, we won't cap you, but we will charge you!)

Did I miss anything?

Think that pretty much summed it up. Wish there was something we could do to get "TRUE" uncapped in this country.

N.B If you currently have a normal telephone line (this line rental is still payable to Telkom), we will need to upgrade your line to ADSL and transfer the ADSL portion of the line to Saol.com. This transfer process takes Telkom up to 21 days. On confirmation of transfer we can activate this service immediately and have the router shipped to you no later than 48hrs. While we will endeavor to have your ADSL line transferred to Saol.com in this time frame, please note that this is reliant on Telkom's planning department. Should there be a delay or early delivery we will inform you accordingly.
If you already have ADSL (not with Saol.com), we will migrate your ADSL line to Saol.com. This migration process takes Telkom up to 10 days. On confirmation of migration we can activate this service immediately and have the router shipped to you no later than 48hrs. While we will endeavor to have your ADSL line transferred to Saol.com in this time frame, please note that this is reliant on Telkom's planning department. Should there be a delay or early delivery we will inform you accordingly.
If you already have ADSL with Saol.com, we can activate this service immediately and have the router shipped to you no later than 48hrs.
N.B If you require your account to be downgraded at anytime, a R200 downgrade fee will be applicable.

The Do Broadband 5G ADSL bundle R141 (5GB) + R413 (4Mb Line Rental). I tried IS via OpenWeb and it sucks hairy ones...the speed and availability of news servers is a joke compared to SAIX.

Cybersmart is upgrading their packages..

One Price Adsl
1gig 384k -> 2gigs 384k (R10 price increase)
3gigs 384k -> 4gigs 384k (R1 price decrease)

I think we should just call true uncapped (i.e. the Myth) by another name and we will avoid any confusion in the future.

How about 'UNRESTRICTED ADSL'? Or, 'UNLIMITED ADSL'? 'INFINITE ADSL'? :) lol
Maybe someone can come up with a better name?

It would be nice to have the comparisons in tabular format...

+1

SAOL will not get my money as long as they lie about uncapped. Effectively the unique thing that makes their UNCAPPED such is the fact that they DON'T provide a capping service when you reach your threshold and WILL charge you for every gig that trojan worm downloads while you sleep.

I guess infinity and beyond sounds a bit far fetched here :rolleyes:

rpm please remove SAOL from your uncapped list as they are clearly NOT uncapped.

as with thresholds I think they are not all that bad, honestly I won't mind axxess' version of "uncapped" becoming an industry standard, it is true uncapped with a slower speed during the day (much better then "true" uncapped but u pay more at end of month).

And I think there should be a ban on "fair usage policy" for uncapped, if you want to advertise UNCAPPED then there is no such thing as EXCESSIVE USAGE. Just do what axxess does, slow pple down during the day.
