Vodacom cuts peak call rates

I recall that mikef was unconvinced that MTR rate cuts would lead to call rate cuts.

are you convinced now?

:)

Some observers have however indicated that these promotional packages are not related to looming interconnect rate cuts, but rather standard practice to attract new subscribers during the lucrative festive season.

I don't remember them throwing in a rate cut way back then - but I do remembering them throwing in an additional phone (as if I really need another one) or a GPS device to attract me - they certainly did not try attract me with lower prices.

I for one am sick of this "vodacom to vodacom" and "mtn to mtn" nonsense.
How the fark do I know what network the recipient is on?

and the me with my talk 500.....500 mins with no discount!

Woohoo - I upgraded two months ago and saw this coming, so got myself on a TopUp contract. I reckon on an "x free minutes per month" contract you're locked in for the duration of your contract, the TopUp contracts will benefit from lower costs as the costs come down :)

Did anyone notice that the Staff "Writer" has forgotten to write anything about the new call rates from Vodacom? Most of this article has nothing to do with Vodacom, therefore its absolutely useless

Maybe "Staff Writer" can ask Vodacom on behalf of the few of us who have Talk contracts why there's no cost reduction, or increase in the number of minutes, for us?

Not nice to be told "up yours" by VC.

Just another way for Vodacom to get back at you for being a loyal subscriber. It is as if they say, thanks for being loyal, here is your kick in the teeth . . . . :-(

yep once you sign that contract they no longer care about you.

JA Vodacom - I often wonder when those locked into those "Call Now and Pay Later" contracts with the exclusion of "TopUp" will refer those ads of "FREE MINUTES" - "INCLUSIVE MINUTES" to the Advertising Standards Authority for adjudicate and force Vodacom to change the "FREE MINUTES to INCLUSIVE MUNITES" or censure them.
This Vodacom annoucement is proof of false advertising with regards to the FREE Minutes story. This would also solve the "Soft Lock" problem as well.

Is this for when you use the phone to talk to people ?
Can phones still do that ?

I only use data.
