Right, so the Norton representative doesn't have much faith in free anti virus products, I wonder why? Its because he would prefer us to install his absolute bloatware.

Would one expect Mr Mallon at Norton to say anything else?

Microsoft Security Essentials is doing an outstanding job as far as I am concerned.

I have been using Avast for the last two years with no issues. One of these days I am going to the MSE but for now I am happy. I think an important factor in security is not downloading dodgy applications and being careful on the sites you visit.

I got more than I paid for :-)

Obviously not lol. If you have used NAV '09 and above you would see they do have something to back up their claims as it isn't bloated anymore.

lol, MSE FTW.

Oh dear God Norton is terrible!!! YELLOW CIRCLE OF DEEEAATHH!!!!

I 100% agree

*Side note* when will vBulletin invent a +1 or dare I say it an 'I like' button

I like Norton, it makes my PC slow so I know it's doing the hard work.

I was told if you can't say something good about something or someone, rather to stay quiet... So I have no comment regarding Norton.

Microsoft Security Essentials is great! I had Kaspersky Anti-virus 2009 paid for on 5 computers, but it doesn't work on Windows 7 now... they want you to upgrade to 2010 version  It's a ruse because the 2009 version worked perfectly on the RC1.

I'll stick with MSE for now because it is rated pretty high even among the paid options! :)

Using Avira Free-av these days. It has saved us many times before,
since
sophos sucks (it`s an application manager nothing else),
Norton (yes the slow yellow circle of death) and
AVG free (slipped viruses past at wrong times so staying away)
Bitdefender 2007 was awesome, 2008/2009 both fail (crashes, etc)

I wish they would also give better initial setup prompts for example:
to quarintine first always before just randomly deleting your stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!

But no, Do not pass go, do not go to jail, do not go to recycle bin but rather the ever
darkness of space and zero`s never to be recover my lost files again...

my 2 cents
