Technology helps dodging traffic jams and speed traps

It is the duty of each user equipped with a GPS enabled phone to contribute. Damn I've had so many speeding fines the last couple of months.

It's not that I intensionally speed. In fact all my fines are R100 to R300, for 20-30km over speeding.

I think that's why trapster is so popular. It's not to encourage speeding per se.

This is one nifty app, can't wait for the WinMo version to load it on my phone and start using it. I am prone to getting speeding fines, so this app will come in VERY handy.
 
I'm so downloading this right now! With a 1GB data bundle this shouldn't be a issue!
 
There's always the risk of being the first trapster user to discover a new trap!:cry:

The app would be better in my opinion if it used the phone's built-in GPS maps rather than download it all over again via my data connection.

The only thing they must not do now is catch you looking at your phone cos then you are in trouble for not concentrating on the road
 
Anything to help keep money from our corrupt government - I'm tired of paying for their expensive parties, planes, cars, etc..........

Trapster on the iPhone has a cache for the maps, and you can specify amount of space used.

Yip that is all but there are always certain members who take the moral high ground to motivate trapping and that speeding causes accidents.

Germany with Autobahn = 40 million cars = 4000 deaths for 2009
SA roads = 10 million cars = 16 000 deaths for 2009

Not speed but rather unroadworthy vehicles, reckless driving etc
 
Anyone who drives over the speed limit should have a gps that alerts them to possible fines.

I did not get one this year and before i had a garmin i was getting 2 or 3 a month.

Yes the garmin goes off like mad but it saves you money.

I love it when my Garmin goes "off" and saves me money. However sometimes i notice it doesnt pick up all the camera's and its got June Streetmaps 2009 installed, but majority of the time its excellent :D
 
even if someone does come out with this awesome tech to help us get out of speeding fines, the SAP will find yet another way to screw us out of our cash.... the always do...
 
You want stop being fined for speeding? Here's a thought: How about you drive at or below the speed limits as displayed per roadside signs?
