Hi folks

As you know we have started another round of broadband testing. If you did not receive an email from me and would still like to be involved in this round of testing simply follow the instructions in the ‘email’ below. We would like to ensure accurate results, so the more testers the better.

Regards,

RPM

“Thanks a bunch for offering to assist with MyADSL’s broadband testing. As usual we would like to ensure that the testing procedure does not interfere with your daily use of your connection and does not require too much of your time. Please try to perform all the tests, but if this is not possible it is certainly understandable.

The official testing dates are: 1 to 8 September 2005

If you have any questions please contact me at [email protected]

TCP/IQ

1. Download the ‘Line Speed Meter’: http://www.tcpiq.com/tcpIQ/LineSpeed/Download/
or http://home.telkomsa.net/rudolph/LineSpeedMeter.exe
2. Install the application
3. Register the application (it is free and anonymous)
4. Set the testing details (the more tests per day the better)
5. Email your results URL, your service (iBurst, DSL192 etc.) and your location to [email protected]

**Optional tests that will be appreciated**

Web Based Speed Tests (it will be great if you can perform three tests)
1. Visit the ADSLGuide Speed Test Page (http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp) run the web based speed test (please click on ‘detailed output’). Mail your results to [email protected] Please include your connection details (DSL 384, Sentech 256 etc.)
2. Please visit the Telkom local Speed Test Page (http://www.telkom.co.za/minisites/dsl/speed.html) and run the HTTP test. Mail your results to [email protected] Please include your connection details (DSL 384, Sentech 256 etc.)
Ping Tests

1. Please ping the following locations and email the Minimum, Maximum and Average ping times to [email protected] Please include your connection details (DSL 384, Sentech 256 etc.)

1. www.chessclub.com
2. www.bbc.com
3. webfarm1.mweb.co.za
4. www.ananzi.co.za

As a small consolation for all your trouble, your email will automatically be entered into the MP3 player/movie ticket competition, when your test results have been received :-)

Tried the ADSLGuide test from behind a firewall. Asks for username and password. What to use?

LOL - Um - the username and password that is allowed to access the internet direct through your firewall.

i.e. It's your firewall that is requesting a username and password.

RPM.

Is there any format you want the data sent as?

I'm currently saving all my results in a Word document for the week.
Unfortunatly I have Norton installed so I cant test my upload with the line speed meter as it wont allow it.

Also I could not get the ADSLguide.org.uk to work, I kept on getting errors in my connection. Thought it was my PC, but tried across a VPN and I get results in a few secs? Want these results as well?

Edit
Oh and for anyone interested and doing the tests I made a batch file up to do the ping tests, you can make it yourself with the following:
Code:
echo off
cls
ping www.chessclub.com
ping www.bbc.com
ping webfarm1.mweb.co.za
ping www.ananzi.co.za
pause

Help Please Please Please Speedtest

Hi RPM (Edited)
I am on ADSL1024 now it sucks. Please check my link

http://www.tcpiq.com/tcpIQ/LineSpee...ountryId=196&ConnectionId=14382&UserId=171952

I do not know what to do to get the line up to spec. My ADSL line sucks even when I upgraded to 1024 , other members do better on a ADSL384 internationally. I was in touch with Telkom and after heated discussions and fighting were put in touch with their expert who listened to my story and agreed I should not be worse off with a international link than ADSL384. He gave me his e-mail and asked for the graphs to discuss this with his developers. To do this more effectively I need to give him comprhensive proof. I presume I will send him my graphs to compare with a link of one of the ADSL 384 forum members. I need more links for ADSL1024 and ADSL384 and ADSL1024 for comparison. Like worst and best

Can You help ????????????????????? I asked for posts and a sticky to no avail
only viceroy posted

This call centre thing is the problem I appliied for a 1024 upgrade yesterday late am and had it installed at around 6pm......via the traditional routes 0800 375 375 is becoming synonomous with 10210 Crap call centre old post office mentality......no bussiness sense. Why.......... Monopoly!!!!

Best effort......Where is the effort You see. I swore at them due to their incompetace at 0800 375 375 for not wanting to log a call, Man named M******** M*******, probably a boy just out of school.
