dang - another ISP bites the dust  - idiots...
Have to agree - they seem to be shooting themselves in the foot.

This has been discussed before - it what some ISPs do in SA; when you get close to your cap, they increase the rate of disconnections to "protect" you from going over your cap.

You can phone them and just agree that you will be responsible for your cap and will pay the fee they charge per overusage.

Just a question, Why do the ISPs need to disconnect you to see your usage?
I also want to know that... it does not make sence. Even for the end user. I sometimes disconnect myself just to get a reading, so that I can compare it to my bandwidth monitor.

i've made a phone call , but not to saol, why should i have to plead with them to use what i have paid for, my phone call was to telkom internet, so that they will give me a new account!

Usage is calculated on a per-session level. The more sessions they create by disconnecting you more often, the more granular they can track your usage to prevent you going over your cap allowance. If you go over the ISP has to fork out $$$ to pay Telkom.

I'm afraid to say this, but gentleman, you are doing exactly what Telkom wants. They are forcing the ISP's to reset ever so often because they, Telkom (SAIX) have purposefully failed to provide the ISP's with the proper tools to manage the new per GB billing system.

An ISP cannot get an update of the amount of traffic you used, without your account reseting. TELKOM are the people to blame here, instead you support them.

Please refrain from ever complaining about them again.

Always on connection my a$$...... Who thinks of this stuff :P

Good Luck Beep!

I have not had problems yet with SAOL..... But if it does come to every hour, no matter who has best price...The session resets will be biggest thing to make me change ISP's.

Same problem - this is SOOOO ANNOYING!!!!!!

I could kill someone. Its not saol's fault but damn!

Freakin Telkomugabe.

In away because they can get away with longer hr reconnects, due to large subscriber base under using and them being able to cover the excess costs, they killing isp's by forcing them to disconnect users at a more regular rate to avoid excess thet the isp might not be able to cover.

Of cause Telkom Internet is not responsible for itm so can't blame them and they'll blame saix who intern will say they can't do it in any otherways due to complications much like the whole not counting of local access which no icasa has said nothing about..
