Telkom vs DotCo case postponed

Oh well, why don't we all signup with DotCo. The wheels turn so slowly in this place, the courts are a joke, and they'll still be fighting about it in 2 years time by which time maybe ICASA has managed to do something about it!

Beats the cr@p out of paying Mweb R3000 for the same thing!

Well, here's to looking forward to next year.

I do hope that the court will rule in Dotco's favour, and if this precedent is set, that the others ISP's be able to offer lower-priced services. And, also, that the beast known as the big "T" gets a proper six of the best. :D

What else can we do but wait...

And in Dotco's case why can't they use the legal system to drag things out like Telkom does.
The wheel turns you know and I hope Dotco make some money while the going is good.
At least they had the balls to tackle the beast.

Well, I read every letter of my DotCo contract and they somehow managed to violate their agreement with me, now charging me more for a service I subscribed to at a fixed 12-month rate. They even started billing me a month in advance. *Puke*

But Johan Ferreira is still my hero.

@tunasashimi, AYCE has always been monthly in advance. The terms also allowed for a price increase always. It is not "fixed 12 month rate" as you think. It was a minimum of 12 months supply period. It is now month-to-month.

Actually if anything South African courts are among the more efficient when it comes to civil cases. If you've never been involved in one count yourself lucky. Even the simplest case can drag out for months, and it usually takes at least six months just to get to court. Overseas it can easily take years before the court case even starts.

brilliant... finally something they are good at works in our favour... i hope the case gets dragged out for 2 years...

No, they actually charged me for a whole complete month, restrospectively, of which I did not even log in once. (I subscribed on the last day, for the next month) Frustrating and annoying, yet, still cheaper than the competition. Taking this into consideration, only by a few rands.

Anyways, if you have not been following the news, Telkom settled with them out of court. Their 12 month contract period with Telkom ends end of this month anyways, so Telkom just let them have it. As they should have. Without making such a noise.

But they have to keep the masses subdued with "fear" somehow, or their profit might shrink by a few billion rands or so. Maybe they will even feel it.
