Unlikely entrant shakes up ADSL ISP Pricing

Interesting.

I've only had ADSL since the 19th of last month so I'll stick with my Telkrap ISP for now. Untill I see how much I can sqeeze out of my softcapped 3Gig account.

It would be interesting to know how they can offer such low rates for their bandwidth. And Broadband Over Powerlines? Are they local? Cause I don't recall anyone offering BPL in SA.

all i can say is i'm glad i'm not a ISP. its not hard to swop isp's for most customers, so if your competition drop prices lower than yours you have to drop also, making profit less and less.

anybody have any idea how much they have to pay telkom/saix for the gb usage? i mean how much profit do they actually make on the adsl accounts?

www.gts.co.za takes me to Gazelle Testing Services (Pty) Ltd (GTS)

Are these one and the same? - the web site doesn't say anything about adsl
who said gts.co.za? in the article it has link to them as http://www.goal.co.za/

interesting ... cause they offer a service that allows you to create your own little network through BPL ... but you will have to setup a server somewhere as an exchange ... so not really for everyone .... pitty .... looks quite interesting ... maybe some of the municipalities can use them :)

depends on price hey. can use it in a complex or company rather than CAT5 cabelling as its much cheaper to put a normal twinflex cable. (and anybody can do it)

ok .. just read a bit of the article ... its talks about them being an ADSL ISP ... but nothing like that on the site about ADSL ... probably needs updating ... looks interesting .... if anyone uses them ... please let us know how it goes

Hi Lucifir

This is a pure ADSL ISP offering...nothing to do with BPL. An article regarding their BPL offering soon...

lol well dude i'm sure the 2 blocks inbetween wont mind if you put a lead through their driveways? haha you can put double adapter and give them internet also haha

okay when u ppl say theyre gonna launch the bpl offering, does that mean they dont have to go through telkom infrastructure? If so then Halaluya!!. But they'll still need to buy international bandwidth from telkom :(

Potentially good news. Will have to wait and see..
