The Sony Ericsson P990i has now been approved, and we are asking SE to ship as soon as possible.

Thanks MTNDD

Getting all excited now, MTN_Data_Dude do you know how long it will take to receive the stock?

:D :D :D

Best news I've had all week !!!

Please, when can we expect stock to reach the stores /

Just spoke to SE, they are still waiting for the "networks"? stock will be a while still it seems! they cannot confirm a date but acknowledged it should have been here already. That is really poor!

Aaargh !

Doesn't actually really surprise me...the whole launch of this 'flagship' device has been a farce from start to finish...especially reading the overseas feedback on some of their forums...
While I am sure the device will do very well, it will be in spite of the efforts of se to put customers off by their hamfisted disorganised approach to getting this phone out to the market.

MTNDD, can you get back to us with a concrete date ?

TIA

Edit : quite funny really , SE are waiting for the "networks" and the networks seem to be waiting for SE...an infinite loop, going nowhere slowly

The P990 is a nice phone but it is outdated. Already a year old. Our local cellphone service providers are too slow at releasing new phones. Same with the P900. When it came out I paid R1000 on a Procall 120 package for the phone. Only 2 months later the P910 came out for less than the price I paid for the P900. I can gaurantee you, it's not going to belong before a new model replaces the P990. I will never make that mistake again.

This phone was only released globally a month ago. It wasnt the fault of our service providers, it was SE that took so long to release the phone.

The P990 was due for release the 4Q 2005.
It comes with a 2MP camera. Not good enough for this type of phone. I'll say at least 3.2MP would be good.
64MB Memory Stick Duo Pro included. What???? 64MB???? My W810i came with a 512MB.

Well, then when I think of it. You can't get everything you want.

Regardless SE released it at the beginning of August 2006.

I'm not sure how they're positioning the product since they sell other phones that appear to have better features.

IMO a lot of people are going to be disappointed with the P990i, if you don’t need the camera the W950i is a much better option.

Thanks for the info, but I'll never go back to a Symbian phone. I'll stick with my K-JAM. ;)

Good day,

Sorry for the delay I've emailed Midrand and see if I can get a date

Thanks MTNDD

yes but what about the JasJam

Thats great news about the SE P9901 but now the big question is when will teh Jasjam be approved. I asked MTN the other day if they had a Jasjam they said yes and delivered me a Jasjar...talk about being dissapointed.
