Stress takes its toll

Another criminal bites the dust. Way to go SARS! Where does Telkom get these criminals from?

How does somebody like her get paid her whopping salary without giving a tax number to HR ???.

When you are a VIP (read: high enough in the food chain ala Enron) you don't have to follow procedure

Shame, my heart bleeds custard.

I agree with Tibby, how does someone in that position not give a tax number to HR? tsk tsk She must owe a pretty penny.
Maybe SARS should investigate all of Telkom's top management.

And Shareholders.;)

Good idea BTTB, but the problem is nobody knows who they are, its bordering on being a state secret. :D The shareholders register, she is missing.

The board tax affairs !!!!!

Investigate the tax affairs of the board !!! It is her board. If you remember the whole board was replaced in Aug/Sept 2004 based on her recommendations to the minister. Made up of her cronies , I say!!!!! Some with dubious proffessional pasts. Of course , no checks are ever done before the appointments. A NYSE listed entity nogal !!!

****... I can't actually believe the NERVE of that woman! I seriously can't!

She has NOT paid taxes (NOT EVEN F@#$@# REGISTERED TO PAY TAXES) whilst she is earning millions from a "STATE" institution such as Telkom?

I can't F'ing believe this ...

Imagine the lucky lawyer who fights hard for his previously-disadvantaged-but-now-very-much-advantaged client, Mtshotshisa, for her 'alleged' run in with SARS - all the time draining her reserves.

I can't believe that she is actually fighting SARS on this? Surely it is a criminal offense NOT to pay your taxes ???

If she were in the States they would probably lock her up.

Lucky she is an ANC member and her buddies "up there" will hook her up.

I wouldn't wish anybody bad health, but a Telkom top level employee not paying taxes... that's really a laugh.

Easy, you just don't register for tax, ever. Preferably your celery should be paid into a numbered swiss bank account and you should be listed as dead (this can be arranged at your nearest home affairs office for a few hundred bucks).

While they are busy with it SARS should also investigate Telkom. They "might" not find any tax fraud, but if we provide the necessary resources we might just get all their adsl provision costs, bandwidth costs, SAT-3 usage, and other "confidential trade information".

SARS or the Scorpions! :D

Mtshotshisa remains a board member at Mvelaphanda Resources, where she has accumulated significant wealth as an indirect shareholder. Earlier this year the Khumama Consortium, of which she is a part, sold 3,1m shares in the mining business for R120m. She also holds R12m worth of Telkom shares. From her various directorships she earned at least R1m/year, R723000 from Telkom.

>Telkom chair Nomazizi Mtshotshisa

(words fail me) = Scum of the Earth

"...where she has accumulated significant wealth as an indirect shareholder."
How do you become an indirect shareholder? You either are one or aren't. Sort of like being indirectly pregnant.
