Hi All

How are we going to know which network we are phoning? - how does this work in other countries where MNP is in place.

Seems like it should be something like the 'Active Diverts' message that pops up on the cell, but that comes up on every call

I've heard talk of something, sorry if this has been covered - I tried to search - but nothing came up.

AFAIK each has it's own distinctive ringing pattern. Of course this is going to force a review of the exorbitant interconnection fees charged by the operators.

I listened to an interview on 702 and apparently, ICASA felt that it wasnt necessary to warn users that they were calling a different network after MNP.

According to the guy being interviewed a warning beep and message was supposed to pop up once a call was made to a ported number.

Don't be so sure, doubt ICASA's going to be forcing much and they won't do it voluntarily.

Yeah - forgot I was in SA again. I wonder if we can send ICASA to see how OFTEL does things in the UK.

They've already given themselves an A. :D Its like being an alcoholic or druggie, the first step is admitting you have a problem, seems ICASA haven't even gotten there yet.

There will be a warning beep before the call is connected if the number you are dialing is off-net.
