1. WHAT IS SP PORTABILITY?
SP Portability is a process which allows customers to change between Service Providers, AND retain their existing cellphone number while staying on the Vodacom Network
2. WHEN WILL SP PORTABILITY BE AVAILABLE?
20 November 2006.
3. WHO IS SP PORTABILITY AVAILABLE TO?
SP Portability is available to contract customers (including Top Up); as well as prepaid customers who want to convert to contract and choose a specific Service Provider.
4. CAN I CHANGE MY SP AS A PREPAID CUSTOMER?
No, if you remain on prepaid you CANNOT change your SP.
5. WHAT ARE THE NEW TERMINOLOGIES / ‘BUZZWORDS’ WHICH I NEED TO KNOW REGARDING SP PORTABILITY?
DONOR SERVICE PROVIDER (DSP) The SP FROM where the customer will switch.
RECIPIENT SERVICE PROVIDER (RSP) The SP TO which the customer will switch.
SP PORT IN The process of RECEIVING a customer via SP Portability
SP PORT OUT The process of RELEASING a customer via SP Portability
SP CHANGE ALLOWED Once the customer has settled the outstanding balance or made a payment arrangement with the DSP and the DSP flags the customer as SP CHANGE ALLOWED; the customer can port.
7. IS THERE A NEW PORT REQUEST FROM REQUIRED FOR SP PORTING?
A REVISED Mobile Number Port request form must be used for both Network and Service Provider port requests. This REVISED form will be made available on 20th November 2006.
8. HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO CHANGE MY SP?
There is no porting fee for changing your SP; however the standard connection fee will apply as this is treated as a new connection.
9. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO CHANGE MY CONTRACT SP?
As soon as the subscriber is activated on VSP’s billing system, the SP has been changed.
10. UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES WILL I NOT BE ALLOWED TO CHANGE MY SP?
• You have already requested your number to be ported to another Network.
• You have not made arrangements with your DSP to allow you to port.
• You are not authorised to request a change of SP (e.g. on a sponsored account or belong to a corporate)
• You have ALREADY been disconnected by the DSP.
11. WHAT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE TO CUSTOMERS WHO ARE STILL CONTRACTUALLY BOUND TO THEIR DONOR SP?
The applicable terms & conditions may vary per Service Provider, but could include;
Early contract termination (including potential penalties charged by the Donor SP).
12. CAN I USE MY ‘OLD’ CELLPHONE & SIM CARD ONCE I HAVE CHANGED MY SP?
Yes. You do not need to purchase a new SIM card when changing you SP.
13. WILL I RETAIN MY SERVICES WHEN I CHANGE MY SP?
All network related services will be retained (for e.g. Vodafone Live!, voicemail); however all SP specific services (e.g. Itemised Billing, Roaming) needs to be reactivated at the recipient SP.
14. WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY TWINCALL AND / OR FAX & DATA NUMBERS IF I CHANGE MY SP?
Important: You must request for all numbers to be ported in the same port request.
15. WILL I BE ABLE TO CARRY OVER UNUSED TALKTIME / SMS’S / DATA BUNDLES?
• If you stay on the same tariff, when switching SP’s, you will retain unused bundles.
• If you change from a bundled to a non-bundled tariff when switching SP’s no bundles will be available after the switching.
• If you move from a bundled tariff to a different bundled tariff, you bundle will be pro-rated according to current business rules.
• If you are a Top-up customer and remain a Top-up customer at the RSP, you will retain your available airtime credit.
• If you move from a Prepaid to a contract customer when switching SP’s, all existing Prepaid to Contract conversion business rules will apply.
16. WILL I NEED TO SET-UP MY VOICEMAIL AFTER I HAVE CHANGED MY SP?
No, refer to question 13.
17. WILL I RETAIN MY ONYX / PLATINUM STATUS WHEN I CHANGE MY SP?
Yes, you will retain your Onyx / Platinum membership for the remainder of the membership duration.
