So I applied for a new ADSL installation yesterday morning round about 9am (was living in Constatia Park PTA and now in The Reeds, centurion side). At about 1pm a Telkom techie phones me says that he is at my premises to install my ADSL line. I was like WTF:eek:, is this a joke or something? So I rushed home from lunch and there he was. Felt like I could give him a hug or beer or a bottle of brandy or something. So that was 4hours turn around time, RECORD ALERT!!! Don’t want to actually say it, but THANKS Telkom things are looking better….;)

Thats just wrong..... Waited for like 9weeks....

/me sad now...:(

I ordered adsl late last month so I suppose it will take a while for things to happen. Telkom did call today to tell me that it's going to take 7 working days but I don't have my hopes up.

My father in law waited 3 months at his office (It was installed in December last year). Must have been because he was paying R1500+ for dial up access every month.

Everything is just going right for me with Telkom these days. Got a bill in the post at my new residence and then I thought there is going to be a screw up like last time, and surely there was, but to my surprise Telkom said that I paid to much on my last bill at my old residence and gave me R202.45 credit on my next bill.
WTF? Telkom giving back money now…. O well keep it coming...:D :D

Did you just move into the house? The previous person probably had ADSL so everything was already there because I got my modem Friday was told on Sunday after hours of frustration and lies from their helpline that the jumpers in the exchange needs to be moved. This they now say will only happen on 15 January I wish I had access to the exchange were my ADSL goes thru because I will move the jumpers myself in ten minutes

The phone lines was already in the house. So the guy just toned it from the house to the box in the street and then to the exchange. Was a 20min job... When he left i stuck the modem in and everything was working sweet...

So what's the name of your inside man? Promise I won't tell :D

thats brilliant. it just shows that it can be done. BTW how is the adsl running? its no point having a speedy installation if its a cr@p connection

Turn around time of 4 hours just is not normal even people working at Telkom will be amassed. Your request probably did not even go thru their systems as a techie only get his work in the morning and getting yours the same day you applied is impossible.

Telkom needs to get their ADSL installs up so ADSL installs will get priority over telephone lines and other faults I suppose in my case they don't really care because their stats already will show provided in seven days and if not Victor will keep changing it till it does or what am I saying Frik we must keep the auditors happy

Syncs at the speeds that it is suppoed to and also no noise or errors on the line.

Well in my case it wasnt impossible was it?:p

Ok just tell us what did you bribe them with.

My guess

Mampoer en 'n skaap boud.... :D

That techie's girlfriend probably lives close to your place, so he moved you to the top of his pile, finished your installation quickly and to the rest of the day of.

Either way, you scored/!
