The Zest T1 is supposed to launch around the middle of June.

The dual sim capability looks really attractive and at R2000 (supposedly) it should be great value for the money.

Are any of you looking at getting this phone? It also sounds like Afrihost will include a 1GB x 12 months sim card.

I just wish mainstream manufacturers would also include dual sim, or that Zest would alternatively build a high end dual sim phone.

The dual sim feature is attractive. R2000 is not a bad deal if AH throws a couple gigs inclusive, not sure if they can pull that

I am definitely interested. I have been keeping an eye on it since last week. The spec looks great. and the 1gig per month will seal the deal for me.

I got an e-mail from Afrihost about this.
Looks promising.

Only issue I have is this; "We're thinking of selling South Africa's homegrown Zest T1 phone with our mobile data and we would love to get your feedback."
So will Afrihost be selling this phone now?
Recipe for disaster.

We launch the T1 on the 18th of June.

We are proud to announce our partnership with Afrihost for the launch of the T1. Together, we will be offering you the T1 and 1GB free mobile data every month for one year (12GB over the year). Afrihost was the perfect partner for Zest Mobile, as they too are committed to service excellence and consumer value maximisation.
... from the latest mailer.

I'm concerned that what started out as a prepaid phone will end up being linked to a contract/debit order of some type. If that's the case I'm no longer interested :(

Its not likely tbh. I'm fairly sure that it will be a value add.

It seems that they will be also developing a CM port for the device. Unless its build is complete garbage will pick one up for sure now.

All have been confirmed : Afrihost Zest T1
... and, reading between the lines in the T&C's, a debit order is required for OOB purposes. Phone's not available without "free" data :(

Their website says a QHD display? QHD For R2000?

QHD is 2560x1440. I'm sure that's a typo on their site.

It's probably a qHD display of 960x540.

They must fix that, otherwise it's considered false advertising.

You should be able to buy it the following day without the data. It is just going to cost R500 more.

Afrihost's page says:

The Zest T1 comes with a Beautiful, Large 4.5” qHD Multi–Touch Display. This means everything you do, from browsing the internet, to uploading that perfect snap on Instagram, or even catching up with friends over Facebook – you'll always see the bigger picture.

So yeah, their website should be corrected.
