Just got my ASDL line up the other day, and hooked up my new Billion 7300M ADSL Router.

Here's my problem. I have 2 PC's and a laptop, all wirelessly linked, and want to run route sentry for my 2 Telkom/Openweb accounts to be routed internationally/locally...

Now in order to use RASPPPOE I need to put my Billion Modem in Bridged mode, but it shuts off my router features!!!

What can I do to use both Bridged mode, and retain my router features to share my internet connection wirelessly?
Do I need to buy another modem?
My Billion 7300M has 4 lan ports...
If I do buy another modem, can I put that one in Bridged mode, connect it say port 4 on my Billion 7300M, and connect the 7300M in router mode from say port 1 to my ethernet card...

PC------Billion 7300M-------Other Modem

With this setup can I use RASPPPOE to dail-up my 2 connections from the Bridged modem and use my Billion only as a wireless router?

HELP PLZ!!!:(

THe problem is you loose all routing capabilities what you need to do is activate internet connection shring on the one pc. Or if your accounts support multiple connections then you can run routesentry on both.

I thought that all Billion Modem/Routers could support both Router and modem functions at the same time? Ive read it on these forums before. Ill try find the link and paste it here!

There is a billion rep browsing these forums - he should be able to help you once he pops up.

I have a 5200S, but the theory should be the same.
Put it into router (PPPOE) mode.
Look for an option called half-bridge (I think) and enable it.

Now you should have router and bridge modes simultaneously.

Hi Guys

Already sent a PM this morning when I logged on.

;) ;)

How's that for service... I'm impressed.

Maybe I should get a Billion router hmmmm

Hi

I would like to purchase the 7300M, does it run in bridged mode and still allow you to retain all wireless and routing functionality?

I also use routeSentry for splitting local & International accounts

One thing i noticed when putting the router in bridging mode was that i couldnt access the router anymore.
But all i did was manually add an ip address, instead of automatic, and then put the router ip address as my DNS.
Then all worked fine again and i could see the router.

Hi thnx for the reply

Do you have a 7300M?

I have a WAG54GS linksys currently and if i put in bridge mode I can do what you mentioned above but I would like to keep the router functionality (assign DHCP addresses, Wireless, Firewall etc.)

I was hoping someone could give me some insight on the 7300M before I purchase it

I have a 7300...not the wireless variety.

I could be wrong, but in bridging mode all the functionality still exists doesnt it?
Only difference is i have my username and password as a dialup on my desktop instead of on the router.....?

Probably best to ask Billion Tech

I have gone ahead and purchased a 7300M after speaking to the guys at billion on thier Live Help and they confirmed that it can do it, all you have to do it selct PPOE roting

I will test it tonight and post my findings

I have a ZyXEL and have it setup in routed mode. You then enale "pass through" under the advanced button and it then allows you to do a bridged connection at the same time. On the Marconis, you set it to PPPoE under encapsulation, and enable bridge mode to do both at the same time

@thesuspect: Which Zyxel router are you talking about - the IAD P2602? It seems that other forumites were having problems getting this to work.
