PS3 Marketing Deemed False

Hehehehehehe..this is actually quite funny....some gamers actually taking the trouble to file a complaint with the ASA...however well done to them.....I woulda done the same thing...being a sony hater and all!!!

rather consumers do it than MS themselves. If MS did it, it would look really bad on them.

Good move my the ASA though JK8 might refute these claims I'm sure...somehow.

Wonder if this will 'cause a price increase to cover the new advertising material?

Shouldn't the both headings read CNA's PS3 Marketing deemed false? Sony aren't to blame here are they? Otherwise everyone else would be in the same dogbox?

I am sure CNA didn't come up with those fantastic slogans by themselves and I see no reason to specify CNA when SK Games was the secondary accused. Since they distribute the PS3 nationwide I presume that is where the slogans came from and therefore it is applicable nationwide.....

Maybe false info was supplied by Sony to CNA?

What?!?! From YOUR blog:

The ASA has declared that a PS3 advertisement that was being displayed on the CNA website is in fact false advertising.

The complaint was lodged by 4 hardcore Xbox 360 gamers (S McDonald, Craig Nicholson, Gareth Seiler and L Goller) against CNA and SK Games.

Consumer complaints were lodged against a CNA Internet advertisement promoting Playstation 3. The advertisement appeared on the CNA website at www.cna.co.za during January 2007.

The advertisement features a photograph of the Playstation 3 game console and, inter alia, the claims:

* “The PS3 is built on the revolutionary cell-processor, which is 8 times more powerful than most computers.”

* “RSX Graphics Technology – twice as powerful as the most advanced computer graphics engine available today.”

Why haven't Incredible Connection/Game/HiFi corporation been misinformed? They're all getting from SK aren't they? (well maybe not HiFi corp ;) :D )

yes it was displayed on the CNA website, but I am saying that since SK Games where also accused they would have received that information from them. SK Games are basically Playstation SA so these could be sent nationwide....

Your assuming that though, where is that written in the complaint?

Lets ask a slightly more relevant question: Who the **** cares?

According to the findings both CNA and SK and not use the claims again. End of story.

a lot of complaints filed with the ASA are by competitors.... M$ should have done it....maybe however, they also felt that it would be petty for them to do it and paid those guys to lodge on their behalf?!!?!?!?

Doesn't really matter. At the end of the day the marketing (done by SK/CNA/whomever) was false and needs to be stopped.

I see a bunch of guys on the xbox-360 forum managed to get the ASA to declare some of the PS3 advertising false...

So typical of the 360 fanboys... ;)

Lets ask a slightly more relevant question: Who the **** cares?

Seems like the 360 owners are really concerned whats happening with the PS3. By the way they carry on about the 360 being the best thing since sliced bread, you would think they couldn't care less about the "over-priced" PS3 which is so "inferior" to the 360. Maybe they should play more games on their 360 instead of worrying what's happening with the PS3. Or maybe everyone is tired of playing GOW already?

;)

Retro, maybe you're just jealous ;)

The closet 360 fanboy who has a go at it instead of declaring your true feelings :p

The reason 360 fans care is that the number of local 360 owners directly impacts on each and every player because of Live.

I need to eat noob souls . . . .

So have the PS3 Fanboys sunk so low to need false advertising ;)

I think it's goos that these guys are being kept inline, I haven't seen any misleading Xbox 360 advertising. I haven'[t seen much advertising though....

It's a small story but it deserves it's 5 minutes of fame as well :D

I don't think a victory in overturning a bit of bad word W A N King is going to sway the decision of someone is buying a PS3.
