Hi,

So ive been wanting to buy a LCD monitor for some time now, and have suddenly realised that I have some eBucks that i have never used so I would like to buy the monitor at www.digitalplanet.co.za (or anywhere else that will accept eBucks.)

I have at the very most 28000 ebucks or R2800. I would prefer to spend less then this but if someone really convinces me otherwise then I may even put in a bit of my own cash if really really really a good deal.

I have been looking at these:

http://www.digitalplanet.co.za/shop/product.asp?StockID=98458 LG

or

http://www.digitalplanet.co.za/shop/product.asp?stockID=99102 Samsung (leaning towards this one)

But i know nothing about LCDs. Which features do I care about and which aren't important? Also suggestions on any other monitors would be most welcome. The rest of the dp monitors can be found here: http://www.digitalplanet.co.za/shop/levels.asp?Page=1&pagesize=20&intStockLevelID=238

Any and all advice would be most appreciated, thanks

OK, you say that you want the Samsung so the widescreen newer version of the one you posted is the 226BW but it's more expensive. If you do decide to get it, you gotta hope it's an S panel (higher quality than the A panel). The specs on the one you posted are pretty good so go for it if theres nowhere else you can spend your eBucks.

no point. In fact, a 6ms panel will actually how video better than a 2ms panel. This is because the overdrive tech used to achieve 2ms causes artefacts during dvd playback in some cases.

BTW, that samsung panel seems fine. I say, go for it!

If you are a serious gamer, check out the Acer AL1951C. I only know about it because NAG said it was the best LCD monitor they had ever seen.

I'm too lazy to search now, but I know you'll find it on Prophecy.

Dont bother - Digital Planet never have stock anyways. Just check HelloPeter or this forum.

Do Kalahari and Incredible still offer Ebucks purchases? Else there are many other e-tailors that are willing to offer you the service you will find lacking in from Digital Planet - just do a google.

I have one. In a word, brilliant. But it's not widescreen. BTW, did you know that a 19" widescreen only has 14% more area than a 17" fullscreen?

Would you recommend me getting one? I currently have a 19" AOpen CRT monitor.

How is the image quality, weight and the like? And please tell me the DVI will work on my 7900GT, I've heard a lot of reports of different types of DVI ports not working...

Stay away from 19" widescreens. Almost no games will work at 1400x900. Go with a 20" widescreen (1600x1050).

My opinion is go for the 1951 Acer or go for the Samsung 22". it costs more, but it is awesome!

I bought the SyncMaster 226BW @ ICorruption last month and I am very happy with it. Crisp images and it looks awsome playing games @ 1680x1050 widescreen. feo where can I check if mine is the A or S panel?
