Ok, I am looking for a cellphone contract browsed my way over to cellucity

http://www.cellucity.co.za/

And look what I see, massive banner advertising the iPhone and claiming "Available in September 2007 Exclusive to cellucity"

They are noticeably light on details but I am wondering if this is truth or marketing. Has anyone got more info on this and could maby shed some light as to what is going on ?

Its bull. They havent announced partnerships in Europe yet so why SA which has no official apple presence.

This is true, but unlike the offerings in UK/USA we don't have phones available exclusively to 1 service provider. So one assumes that it will be handled differently in SA...

No i'm not saying I think this web "announcement" is truthful, but I don't foresee the same style of launch in SA.

Yet Cellucity claims it is exclusive to them. ;)

Anyway the UK system is similar to ours - same phones across the board.

Truthfully I dont see apple wanting to tarnish its name with any of our providers.

Well, I think we need to download said advertisement ... when September comes round I feel I might need to put a call in to ASA

it is just a shame it has no 3g nevermind hsdpa, which in my opinion should be the standard on this phone

There is a thread about why it happened ... something about AT&T not coming to the party

Quite stupid IMO to base it solely on AT&T, there'll be major markets outside the US that'll be affected by this.

/*makes note to refer to this post in September
Yeah - like I've never been wrong before. :)

Last theory I heard is they were trying to keep the weight and power consumption down. ATT has 3G and it is a inevitable upgrade if they can overcome those constraints to Jobs satisfaction.

Firstly, that image is copyright BIG TIME...anyways...

Can tht not be considered false advertising? Cant we sue? :D

Well they haven't been proven wrong yet, if they don't have it by September then things can get interesting. :D
