What are the specs on xDSL and Fiber?
This is Neotel - if you want fibre any time soon eat a muffin.I've learnt to take articles like this with a few heaps of salt. But hearing the word "fibre" is promising.
lol, well I give 'em more credit than Telkom. I've only been on the phone with them twice and both times I had a competent, fairly intelligent person on the other end and friendly too which is more than I can say about Telkom. This is Neotel - if you want fibre any time soon eat a muffin.![]()
If I owned a company with a telephone license, I would seriously be worried that after more than a year of having the license, absolutely nothing has happened. Maybe Icasa should cancel the license and issue it to a few newcomers in different geographic regions. I fear that Neotel are even worse than Telkom.

I honestly believe that some of the ICASA stuff have interests in Telkom. They won't push Neotel to be operational coz they'll loose money. they r just playing with our heads. Just like politicians
While this sounds promising, I would like to ask NeOTel to start communicating with all of us - even those of us that don't get selected to participate, would appreciate an email stating as much.“In addition to the requests received thus far, Neotel plans to also invite a few pilot customers from amongst the MyBroadband members, in order to further improve the quality of feedback regarding the products and services,” Neotel pointed out.
The reality is that Telkodemonopolies will only start envying NeOTel's NGN network, when NeOTel actually opens its doors for business, and Telkodemonopolies actually loses large numbers of previously-disadvantaged-customers [i.e. all of us hostages].At a recent Computer Society of SA conference on telecoms developments in South Africa, Neotel pointed out that they have the enviable advantage over Telkom of not having to develop a network based on existing legacy technologies.
