Dear Mr Openweb,
It has come to my attention that roughly the start of 1 August 2007 IS seems to have gone shaped on us the client who is using any related p2p/torrent application.
having a vip membership at fileplanet it was good for a while, but now since their application is modeled on the p2p/torrent mechanics to download from their nodes to the client a max of 5KBps to 10KBps in working hours or after hours 10KBps to 22KBp is given.
This is exactly the same symptoms which all related applications as the above now gives me.
p2p/torrent which used to be already a shaped experience during work hours, but at least after hours and weekends it was lifted, but now it seems all round implementation of shaped usage.
When I swap my connection over to Saix shaped prepaid service from webafrica its clearly not shaped to death anymore.
As an isp to the client if you have known of this before 1st August 2007 it were your duty to inform us the clients of IS's new shaping rules - if they have not informed you of this then please confirm the obvious with them and get back to us the client.
having the choc chipped cookie without being able to eat the chocs isn't a chock chipped cookie at all -
I feel its kind of unacceptable to pay for a collective service and then not being able to render from it what you should have gotten, but unfortunately in our situation mostly the isp's hands are already tied behind their back and we all have to succumb to telkom's world...
