First, my wireless PC decides to stop connecting to my wireless router out of a blue. The signal strenght is Excellent but says Limited or No connectivity. I tried my notebook which has a wireless card, could not connect as well giving same problems. Thought it should have something with the settings on my router (My WAP key). But now something strange, I can't access my router online through the Ethernet connection using both FF & IE7. When i type 10.0.0.2 on address line in my browser, its says unable to connect, as if the address doesn't exist.

I called Telkom ADSL which takes about 30min before you make it to the front of the queue, the guy suspects that my anti-virus software could be blocking my access to the router. I disabled AVG free and McCfee but with no avail... Not sure what to do next

Modem: Telkom 5102G

Dude, just switch it off, reboot your pc and switch it back on. If you've got a proxy configured in your browser, take it off, because the pc can't go through the proxy to your router, aaaiiiiggghhtttt? ;) :D :p

Emhhh... Done this zillion times. FYI this is happening on two different HOME PCs. Yes the notebook has a proxy at times but when used at work. The desktop PC (home PC) has never even heard of the word proxy cause it doesn't even know the smell of the LAN or work network, only knows my small home network which never used/needed a proxy server

Thanks anyway!

Pleasure anyway! ;)

So you have trouble accessing the router wirelessly? Don't you have a lan cable which you could plug in and test it that way?

I have trouble accessing the router using LAN cable. I couldn't even try accessing it wirelessly cause my wireless is not working anyway!, which is the reason am trying to access the router... Hope i make sense

I had a similar problem the other day, but I'm not sure how I solved it :o

My wireless started behaving as yours did; I know from past experience that it's usually a channel conflict, so I switched channels only to be unable to do anything wirelessly. Then I couldn't get to my router's IP even using a cable.

Once I did manage to get to my router settings I changed the channel again and all was happy. What I'm not sure of is how I managed to connect to the router again; I didn't do anything dramatic, so I think it was just a combination of rebooting the router and the PC.

If all else fails, look at the back of the router and reset it, simple and easy ;)

Telkom 5102G Router problems

Hi

I have a similiar problem as stated above. My Telkom Router is acting very strange. I had trouble connecting a Mac to my existing home network with 2 windows XP PC's. Another forum suggested I remove the security key of my Wireless connection. While logged into my router my PC crashed and some settings must have been screwed because after resetting I couldn't access the router at all. After many attempts of resetting and reinstalling software I have managed to somehow log onto my other PC and the internet through the router but I can't access the router directly. (No luck connecting with the Mac either)

I think some of the ethernet settings on the router (like the admin password, maybe) might have changed and I can't logon to change it. Does anyone know how to completely wipe its memory and return to the factory settings?

Thanks.

Just wanted to let future readers know I sorted out the problems. To reset the modem you have to make sure you use something very sharp (like a bent paper clip) to make sure you press that reset button for at least 10 seconds. After another few tries it reset completely and I could log into the router again.

For the problems I had connecting wirelessly to an iMac I had to upgrade the frimware. Available at http://www.telkomphones.co.za/5102g After downloading the new f/w log into the router at 10.0.0.2 with your browser. Go to Maintenance/Firmware and upgrade your f/w. This should make everything work smoothly.

Its been happening to me to, i did a complete Computer Wipe and thought it was SP3 for Win xp, now nothing is on my Computer and i thought it was my ADSL Modem or Router, still some Websites are just lagging and have no Network Connection.

I think its Microsoft.
