That's a joke! They're the ONLY satellite pay-television company, so while being the "largest and most formidable" they're also the smallest and least formidable.

Just a reflection of what we've all been living with all these years
 
It isn't the regulator's job to make sure everybody survives. The market must do that. This protectionism must end!

Lol. Thats what I thought. Obviously someone's getting paid per word. Actually that article could just have well not been written at all. It doesn't really say much.

Oh and the best way to deal with market share is to grow the effing market. In other words make it affordable.
 
These new entrants are going to need mighty deep pockets to survive the start up phase.

Also the had better have something unique to offer that Multichoice can't deliver by just tweaking their offering.

And as to one set top box - um no - satellite, IPTV, Digital Terrestrial, LizardOverload direct, are all different technologies, and probably different boxes.

So what I'm really seeing is that a market when I can choose to pay for what I want and watch it when I want to (without paying for a package of which I am not interested in >95%) is imminent then?

Who am I kidding. I don't have a TV, and nothing here makes it look more likely that I'm going to get one any time soon. I can live without Amazing Survivor Idols Makeover Race and their like...

On the one side you've got Etv porn, on the other Walk on Water Christian programming, be interesting to see who comes out on top. :p
