Telkom welcomes competition, again

As an industry leader, Telkom will remain competitive in protecting and growing it's market share. Being a good corporate citizen, Telkom will not engage in anti-competitive behaviour,” said Lulu Letlape, Telkom’s Group Executive for Corporate Communication.

ic can have a bit of fun with this statement. :D

Is this because they know that Neotel will be hamstrung by INFRACO?

Lol I think most of us can start to right these articles already, quite easy really:
Complainant: Telkom you suck!
Telkom: We are constantly striving to suck less, so therefore we don't suck. In fact if you listen closely you'll notice we actually blow.
Judge: Case dismissed.

So it goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and....

Why doesn't VSNL just sue the SA Government for reneging on its contractual agreements? Surely as a Telecoms operator tendering for the SNO license, certain agreements regarding access to existing telecoms infrastructure was stipulated? Why is Neotel *****footing with Telkom? Actually why is the media in this country so reluctant to "dis" Telkom or even discuss the issue - an issue that has far far greater impact on this country than Jake White and rugby issues, yet, ol Jake's issue gets discussed and analyzed to death by the media!. I've even mailed JCW on radio 702 and have since heard absolutely nothing. In fact, how often do you see or hear this issue being addressed on radio or TV, I mean really addressed? Something is very very wrong here.....

“Competition is good for business and consumers, and for SA to be a world class player it is critical that all operators build a competitive culture, where service and performance should dictate business decisions, not manipulation of procedure or loopholes," Neotel pointed out.

...not according to Ivy it ain't!

Most of these points remind me of that forked tongue of Ivy, which again reminds me that she is the grand overlord behind the gates of hell that Telkom so closely guards.

Haha, always wondered why they hired a Bachelor of Arts to this certainly high paying, high profile position. I would've thought someone with a bit more business acumen would be better suited, even a surf 'n turf degree/diploma (marketing).

Must be to be creative and make up all the bull that is fed to the public, however I must say she is past her sell by date as these are just rehashed statements time and time again. Her creativity tank is on empty, perhaps a baking course will help spark some inspiration.

Typical Telkom covers lies with more lies!! Hey did they get CIA traning??

I too welcome competition... and I truly hope telkom suffers when neotel comes in.. I will not miss Aerocrap :)

NB* Note the word when :)

“Telkom has consistently welcomed the liberalisation of the telecommunications landscape which has brought about increased competition. As an industry leader, Telkom will remain competitive in protecting and growing it's market share. Being a good corporate citizen, Telkom will not engage in anti-competitive behaviour,” said Lulu Letlape, Telkom’s Group Executive for Corporate Communication.

 Everything I want to say will just be censored:p

ICASA’s lack of funds and other resources means that the Regulator will have a hard time trying to rope in Telkom – something that it has failed to do since the company received monopolistic status in the nineties.
It has nothing to do with funds. It has to do with intention. Intention is lacking.

Being a good corporate citizen, Telkom will not engage in anti-competitive behaviour,” said Lulu Letlape, Telkom’s Group Executive for Corporate Communication.

Someone, please pass the lady a toilet roll so that she can wipe her mouth....

Something like this?:

LooLooPoo@Telkodemonopolies

@LooLooPoo, yes - I know your ego is hugely inflated & you like to read what is written about you, I would like to know exactly when Telkodemonopolies will become a 'good corporate citizen' and in which country will that be?

Telkom will remain competitive

Well that says it all, doesn't it.

hehehe. doesn't it just?

But then again, it can't be difficult to 'remain competitive' when you've got a monopoly 'cos you're only competing against yourself. You can't lose.

Pity it's at the expense of all South Africans though (ok, except Ivy and Lyndall).
