Just curious if anyone here owns masternodes - doesn't matter how big or small the project is.
Seeing any kinds of decent returns yet? Running yours locally or in the cloud somewhere?

I've just recently starting running masternodes for a small project called SUB1X.
Due to list on an exchange in a few weeks.

Currently running mine in AWS on a windows machine using their micro package. Get 750 free hours per month, but additional instances start getting billed. Haven't really paid much attention to rewards yet but my one wallet has a masternode as well as staked coins and in about a month I've earned nearly half a masternode's worth of coins. I've also just enjoyed setting the whole thing up and getting a little glimpse of what AWS offers. It's been fun.

Syscoin are also releasing masternodes in the next few months - I own some SYS but not nearly enough to run a masternode. Some of these bigger projects have really nice returns on the masternodes but require a decent amount of money to purchase (I think syscoins are around $20 000?).

I love masternode coins, and the market does as well. I have bought some coins that run masternodes but not always enough to run a masternode.

I keep an eye on this list and buy promising coins where the masternode costs isn't too high.

Currently running a tierion node and trading my way to a VIVO masternode.

I see VIVO is giving a massive return. Is that continuous or will the block rewards come down. Like I said, I love masternode coins but one of the things i look for is a reasonable return. Surely coins that give massive returns are not sustainable.. ie inflationary coins...I mean you can make money while everyone is buying to set up masternodes but once that is said and done, there is little action to sustain the price of the coin coupled with a huge supply?

Not sure on what the return coin wise is but 50% of every new block found goes to the masternodes. I would think this refers to the privatesend block.

Normal transacting of vivo doesnt involve the master node and therefore it gets no reward from that.

You can check return on https://masternodes.pro/ which says its currently 182%. Vivo launch date 22/08/2017 with total supply of 27 million coins so I think the block reward is going to tape off. I tried to look on their site for block rewards but was not able to find. If the block rewards come down, which it must with such a low supply, then its an interesting coin. Dash total supply is 22 million. Vivo would be a strong contender for the next dash! ...... MMmmmmmm.. now you have me interested.

Are you keeping your rewards (they have staking?) or cashing them out regularly?

TNT I'll be keeping long term. I've only received the reward twice. Currently it's a lottery with TNT but near releases are changing that.

There is no staking with TNT

Bought Master Node when XLR was between $1,07 and $1,20

What goes up (sometimes) have to come down:

Wow - nice early investment.
How did you originally find out about it so early?
Your masternode rewards - do you hold or cash out as a revenue stream?

I was intrigued by MN's and did some reading on the newer entrants, just decided that Solaris was the one I want...

Up till now I have been using rewards for trading, there has been a nice pattern until recently that you could buy at a price, and sell for 10% gain within a couple of hours, buy back at next dip and repeat within a fairly predictable frame.

You running your wallet locally or VPS?

Received my first bill from Amazon for the AWS instances I've got there :). Because I'm using their t2.micro service it's painfully slow to synchronize the first time round. At least once it's done it's over. Block rewards have been properly adjusted now to favor masternodes and I'll get a better idea later in the week of what returns look like. Should also get on coinmarketcap some time this week.

Tricky time now with all alts down but hopefully picks up after the January slump.

I used to run 10 chc masternodes. Made a bit of bucks and then sold the invested coins. Was/is a crapcoin.

Currently running 2 zen masternodes. Earnings were ok when I started, but have come down since.

You running them locally?
Nope. EU

I used to mine zen and made quite a few coins. Back then when I mined, zen was between 2-4$. When it hit 20$ I sold a chunk and kept the rest for the secure nodes. Right now a node makes about 2$ a day :/ When I started it was around 40$ a day, basically 2 coins a day.

Running on a VPS I already used for webhosting and some other stuff at an ISP in Cape Town.

Nice.
You acquire this recently or been holding for a while?
Where you running it - locally or VPS somewhere?

Got my first reward this morning!!! 10 INN :)

I acquired it recently.. used money from arbitrage and sodl some other coins... meanwhile i had waited a week I could have bought two for the price of one... or and INN and VIVO MN... :(

Running it through a VPS, vultr (ref link - https://www.vultr.com/?ref=7315626). Took a lot of Ubuntu coding.. i mean I did just follow instructions but for a noob like me... i felt like Neo from the Matrix.

Anyways, I am addicted to MN coins now... Busy setting up my crave MN and have my eye on more!
