[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Correct, borrowed from LG if I'm not mistaken but is it better than the U8H on a side by side comparison in SA.
I read one reviewer saying on a Takealot post the following Quote "One big gripe is that this is not the same as the US version. It has 169 dimming zones compared to 300 the US version".
There is no A8H US. I can't comment on the U8h but the A8H has been pretty great

You don't even need to do a comparison to know the A8H will have a much better picture. The only time the U8H might be better it in a very bright room with direct sunlight. OLED always wins otherwise. Spend the extra money and eat jam sarmies for a while.

You don’t need direct sunlight for mini led to compete, it isn’t just about the brightness overcoming glare, it’s also because in a bright room (no direct sunlight required) the perceived contrast of mini-led improves weakening the lead of the OLED in that scenario. A good mini led tv will still have some minor blooming, but it will pretty much disappear in a well lit room.

U8H has too few local dimming zones in SA though, it’s not so great.

What's good @Lupus and @capd
Two things, how is tone mapping/curve on your A8H. Lastly how are the highlights for HDR movies etc. Smooth gradients, example would be the skies on The Martian.
Thanks

Yo. Not too sure, it's a secondary TV that is mainly used by my son. But to try and answer, it does 90 - 95% of what my LG CX and LG C1's do.

I guess in LG standards we can say comparable to a B1 or B2 I guess.

wow my son would be happy, he's got a 42" AIM that he uses.

Man this oled is good, colours and blacks, no banding in dark screens, no blooming on lights.
Hell even 2020s U7QF blooms

Isn't the smart tv software beyond garbage though?
Not really, the Netflix and Prime apps work better then on the Android box, actually switch to filmmaker mode properly.
It's also not as slow as the old ones. Would be nice if it had Disney plus
