Let's talk Gatsbys

havent gone through whole thread......

Any good gatsby spots in Pretoria East / Centurion ?

dammit ...you people make a man go mad

ok my aunt owns a take away in strand so normally i go there and make my own

very long 1metre rolls which must be toasted

the chicken is grilled in a tikka and oriental relish sauce

the chips abit crispy as i dont like slaap chips ..

on the roll beofre anything is added i add 2 slices cheese to the bottom (cut into triangles)..then goes the chicken ...some sauce over that ..

then the chips with bbq and chilli spice and salt and add 2 slices cheese on top ..cut into triangles so distributed all over

then the sauces , mayo and a secret sauce

wrap it up and cut into minimum 4 slices

..other gatsbys well our own shop i make a good steak almost similar and eating out a golden dish chicken and cheese is good ...and boner (grassy parl) vienna gastby
might be taking you waaaaaay back, i grew up in Strand/Gbay, was it Blue Owl? Remember that gem??????

Same way the best bunnies are in Durbs, the best Gatsby is in Cape Town.

You want to get them at a Malay owned/operated takeaway.

Usually from Cosy Corner, Aneesa's, Golden Plate and of course Wembley. Fullhouse is best.

don't see myself going through 44 pages in this thread so sorry for whatever has been suggested, but I'm here to offer tips when visiting Kaapstad! (not the Northerns! ....Southern/Cape Flats!)

No matter what you have heard about Golden Dish (like its a dirty place and kak) go visit them, ask them to see how they operate at the bag, the ballie there will GLADLY show you how things are done and how they operate, the area its situated in is busy as a beehive! there are 1000's of people around there daily, do you expect the take aways to take care of the area around them? Golden Dish will really really impress you, might be pricey compared to some other places around it but worth every cent! (Favourite Geba, Chicken + Perinaise or however the hell you spell it)

Cosy Corner Wynberg, another pricey but VERY VERY popular place amoung the guys and gals that know a Geba! HIGHLY recommended!!! (Favourite Geba, Vienna and BBQ)
Little unknown GEM of the Southern Subs, Azraaz take aways in lansdowne/kenilworth, VERY affordable place with the owners always considering the budgets of its customers in the immediate area (kinda in a industrial area if you want to call it that)

The above post suggests Wembley, maybe the Wembley of 4-5 years ago, not this new school Wembley, sorry dude, WAY to expensive these days to even take the kids for a sandwich and milkshake like we used to, think they might be trying to hard and lost touch with the Geba culture! just my opinion

Last but not least.... Khans Foods! Not for the average Geba, but for the Rotie Gatsby! Thank me later !
