At least Mashaba can claim some moral high ground on this issue, during his time as a Mayor he did a very good in getting some resemblance of order in the city centre, getting the place clean and orderly needs some serious commitment, which will include some fights with the so called human rights organizations which opposes anything the government does in getting rid of the scourge.

None of the governments that came after him showed and serious commitment in that regard.

Yeah, if the DA really wanted the best for JHB, they would have opted for Mashaba to be Mayor. He was the one unifying factor behind the parties there. I don't even agree with Mashaba's policies or politics but even I can see this.

"On merit" he would have also been the best candidate to lead due to experience.

I guess Okes here are so invested and so die-hard (for mostly either VF+ or DA) that they can't see reason actually.

Also, note how the praise from DA diehards towards Baloyi has stopped.

To go with your endless whine...

Poor Gauteng...the semi-gration to the Republic of the Western Cape will be turbo-charged... Let's hope the ANC-EFF get less than 50% in Gauteng then (got 48% combined in 2021 LGE).
There is nothing poor about Gauteng, don't believe the hype.

Because that is what I was meaning by "poor".

Anyway, I see the great hope of Dawie Scholtz and other Mmusi DA backers, Action SA, only has branches in 25% of the country's 4500 wards. No hope of getting anywhere near that 10 percent that some people were predicting.

Also Guateng is currently running the risk in the medium to long term of becoming SA's second "economic" hub.. Unless things turn around significantly in the next 10 years I would see Cape Town and the Western Cape becoming the major economic hub in terms of where companies are headquartered and run from in the future.

They must just save themselves the trouble and unite behind the DA, President Steenhuisen will make sure they are taken care of, even that sulky Beaumont will not be left out.

Definitely. If GP falls to a Doomsday Coalition, there will be a massive influx of capital and people to WC to escape Doomsday.

So I see it in a bit of a hybrid fashion...

GP will still be the actual economic powerhouse in terms of market size, manufacturing etc etc.. but the big boy entities who have operations across the country will start relocating head offices and such to the WC so the actual decision making will move there and from an accounting point of view that will be where the money is generated and churned through. GP will lose much of its upper echelon skills and taxbase to the WC (it already is in many ways)

From today's Sunday Times:

So they're stalling the election until after next year (which kinda makes sense, since a leadership change now might be chaotic). They seem to support Moonshot but they're angry that John made the announcement at Congress (makes no sense but ok). Also, what other name should the coalition use exactly? Ubuntu, maybe?

I once again agree with you. It's crazy to see how many GP okes flock here. Especially to places like Mossel Bay, George and of course, CPT...
