I once again agree with you. It's crazy to see how many GP okes flock here. Especially to places like Mossel Bay, George and of course, CPT...
Yep, we are a small province and obviously can't accommodate all the taxpayers, it makes sense to donate some to the Independent Republic, 15% is pitiful.

If only you people were more appreciating of our efforts, we are giving you high earning taxpayers and an endless supply of cheap labour.

The IFP are making the standard "personality cult" mistake.

The IFP seems to be aware that currently they are almost nothing without Buthelezi... I wonder how much longer the party (as it stands) can exist when he passes on from life.

I even see it in KZN... granted its mostly the north coast, but its definitely experiencing a huge semi-gration uptick from the wealthier segment of Gauteng.

One has to wonder how long guys who trek up to the big smoke for 4 days a week will do so before just relocating their head office work to the coast

You'd think the old warlord would have the presence of mind to step back and allow the IFP to find their way without him just like Mandela did with the ANC.

From today's Sunday Times:

So they're stalling the election until after next year (which kinda makes sense, since a leadership change now might be chaotic). They seem to support Moonshot but they're angry that John made the announcement at Congress (makes no sense but ok). Also, what other name should the coalition use exactly? Ubuntu, maybe?
Also from today's ST:

If GHL didn't immediately suspend him after the POLICE RAID of HIS HOUSE, then it would've allowed the opposition to have a new Nora Grose to play with (they already tried by saying that they weren't treated equally even tho they were). It would've also brought up questions about DA not acting swiftly against him. And so on.

You'd probably applaud if the Doomsday Coalition takes GP, with your glorious leader Lesufi at the helm.

He tried in 2011-2016 if memory serves me correctly, and they couldn't find their way and almost vanished from existence.

It seems on the one hand they are trying to stand on their own two feet (and they are), but on the other hand, they play like the ANC and invoke Buthelezi as a trump card, like ANC does with Mandela (which also seems to be working)...

That was around the time they were losing good leaders like Ziba Jiyane and Ka Magwaza Msibi who were tired of waiting for him to step down, it's like creating a mess then stepping aside for someone to clean up after you, not exactly noble.

Maybe now with the party support going up is the perfect time, go and dedicate his time to advising the new King and give the other chap a chance.

Now for the ANC/EFF article from ST:
ANC.jpg

ANC2.jpg

I see Lesufi is trying to act like the puppet mayors they've appointed in GP, are because "The ANC's voice is not trusted" and not just because ANC and EFF refuse to vote directly for each other's candidates because it would lead to chaos amongst their voters.

Essentially, Lesufi confirms a planned Doomsday Coalition in GP for 2024 and says they (ANC GP) expect to fall far below 50% (which confirms the views of many that ANC will lose their majority next year).

He was the leader until 2019. Hlabisa took over from him, and from there on out, the IFP has been moving up.

I definitely stand corrected then :)

But I would generally agree with the idea that now with the party moving up, it would be a good time for him to step aside, but at the same time it is pretty clear that their best chance to gaining additional votes is having his face on the posters (at least in my limited view on things)

There is also some weird language in that article that Lesufi uses, about the ANC playing a supportive role which I find very very odd. Its almost an admission that the ANC is on its way out (at least from Lesufi's point of view and he is cosying up with the party he thinks is the next option for him to slot into)

Yup. Especially the frank admission that ANC GP won't have a majority on its own next year. And the shite they've been pulling in GP metros have been trial runs for next year. A Doomsday Coalition with a puppet leader from a small party at its wheel...

I thought the DA and it's partners are taking Gauteng?

Well apparently most tax payers from Gauteng are flocking to the Independent Republic. They are presumably DA voters, so that would theoretically make it harder for the DA to take Gauteng.

But then DA support in the Independent Republic should accordingly show significant growth, or something doesn't add up here.

That's what I'm hoping for yes. That the Moonshot okes can keep the Doomsday okes at bay.

But it seems that GP has two options before it: either Doomsday or Moonshot...
