PlayStation 5 consoles more prone to failures than Xboxes in South Africa

According to data from Console Service Centre, one of the highest-rated gaming console repair businesses in South Africa, the PlayStation 5 is more prone to failures than Xboxes.

Data collected by the Boksburg-based business from 1,021 console repairs in the last year showed that Sony's latest console was susceptible to an under-reported overheating issue.

If you sell more, there will be more "breakages" so we would need to know the sale number difference.

That's because they sit on their Xboxes playing PlayStations duh.

I'm an Xbox fan but I'm guessing it's because probably 10 PlayStations are sold for every Xbox in South Africa

Overheating issue possibly due to being used a lot more than an Xbox.

Gay lord console…. Meh

Always getting confused when turning on my air conditioner, don’t know which one is the console of air con.

Stupid article - there are considerably more PlayStations than Xboxes. If you just count what you see coming into your repair shop, the stats are not really telling you much! Have had all the generations of PlayStation (excluding PS2) , have not had one break on me to this day! Still have a fat PS3 that works perfectly fine and kids inherited my PS4 - not a day's problem.

Another reason why I will never buy a PS5. It's not like there are any exclusives worth playing and even the Pro is weak and underpowered. I am excited about the Steam Machine for Linux gaming.

I am waiting for Linux 2 first before jumping.
I don't believe that will make much difference and AMD's excellent hardware should be able to outperform any console. I hate kiddie mainstream consoles and Windows 11 is a headache so the Steam Machine might be perfect for me without all the hassles of PC building. It's like going back to the glory days of the Commodore Amiga or PC-98 before IBM compatibles took over.
