That "Comparison tool" got me all excited but will do some extra research before thinking Ill get better a deal and then it will bite me in the ass later on.

You will always get what you pay for. You need to look at what is covered and whether it aligns with your medical needs. People far smarter than us have done the maths and worked out the risk vs price. Cheap doesn't always mean bad if it covers something relevant to you but lacks in other areas that you don't think you'll need...

There's no 'good' medical aid, just go for the plan you can afford. In the end, they are all fleecing the public.

This is not completely true. You want a medical aid that works closely with the hospital, less admin better and known for having a big budget. The more members they have and the more hospitals and doctors they cover the better.

I would personally stick with the big ones where financially possible.

Also on Classic Smart. But I think I'm losing out. Its a great plan but not for my use case, currently.

R8960 vs R4400 for me ( fam of 4 ). The co-payment for doctors visits are nice but both the wife and I are on chronic and the kids are old enough now not to need regular so a cash basis would work out better. The included basic dentistry is MUCH better and that honestly is what we both need at the moment. Hospital cover is 100% vs 200% but as mentioned I have a decent GAP cover that covers the shortfalls. Also covers any private hospital vs specific but thats not a issue for me.

Liquidity looks good and chronic and pmb is the same accross the board. Struggling to find a negative at the mo, still doing the homework.
