The official running thread™

Was out for practically all of 2025 due to a nagging ankle issue. Slowly starting to get back at it.
I think Comrades 2027 will be a good one for the bucket.
They knocked it out of the park with this new staggered start and YT broadcast.
I believe back runners found nothing but dry tables for the first 20km.
Well done to all those that ran this year.

I have been quietly training (I didn't want to jinx it) for the comrades everything went 100% to plan until 2 weeks before on the Thursday. Went for a simple 5km 6.15 which was race pace, put my foot down and it felt like I just stepped on uneven ground happened plenty in my 1400km of training for the race.

Few hours later foot started hurting, next day was sore but manageable, next day drove to Durban for a holiday before comrades but by the time I got there I thought I was going to pass out from pain.

Sunday I rested and found a physio for Monday morning, physio sent me to doc, doc did scans and I have a mild ligament tear. 8 weeks plus recovery.

Ended up in a boot and have been sulky, went to comrades and seconded some friends until I couldnt anymore because I just got too tired to carry on.

Wife had to drive me home from Durban because it is my driving foot but got home today and feeling less sulky in my own space, still sucks breaking 1 week out from comrades.

2nd time I have been here without actually doing the race. 3rd times the charm I guess.

Better it happened before the race than during I would say. Unlucky :(

So for the first time I synced a instant workout from strava (Recovery run 6km). I must say that was way more fun than my usual garmin recommended recovery runs.

Saw a cool interview with George, he is a data scientist and was angry he couldn't find more data on pro's and how they train a few years ago so all his runs are public.

Does like 300km a week and has done 4400km this year 😲

I might consider the runna app if it makes my workouts more enjoyable. Let me try the free trial and report back.

Yeah please report back seen some influencers punting it but no idea if it was just a paid promo. Reviews online seem great and might want to use it next year to try get some PB's under the belt.

Just checked - I can give you guys a two week free trial.

Code RUNNAX3F72FX

If you sign up a paid account I get a £10 voucher, for transparency
