My Venu 2 has kind of gone off the rails. It died without warning on Sunday. Charged it at the office yesterday and at 6PM, I noticed it froze at 4PM - with screen on max brightness.

I did the reset of hope, but through the evening I noticed that the heartrate sensor wasn't really catching on. It would lock on, HR would go up, then eventually creep down to nothing. Body battery and stress metrics kept disappearing too. I also noticed some unexplained vibrations.

I was hoping maybe it's going through some post-reset crisis and working things out, but nope, watch is definitely loopy. I am kind of wondering if I didn't seal it up properly and water got in.

It lasted for almost 5 years. Good run I suppose.

Take it to the workshop in Rosebank. They might be able to revive it.

Same goes with tablets, must effect the hardware inside but agreed should be standard for flasgship watches going forward.
 
LTE is quite heavy on battery. This gets even worse if the signal gets worse.

Might be why they don't do it.

Can't speak for other brands, but the Pixel switches the LTE off when it's connected to a phone or wifi. It's only connected when the phone or wifi is not in reach. Battery lasts just over 2 days if I don't use the GPS (sports tracking)

That's probably your answer there, I don't see any of their current smartwatch offerings giving less than 7 days usage in smartwatch mode.

Damn! The price went up by R1000 in less than 30 minutes.:mad: I looked at it for R2999 and when I put it in the cart, it suddenly was R1000 more.

Picked up a Germin Fenix 8 on Prime day last week. My first Garmin wearable. I'm only using it for hiking and workouts, not everyday wear.

Lovely bit of kit but jirre, the ui is taking some getting used to. Integrates pretty well with the alltrails app.
 
I bought a Venu 4 when my Venu 2 died. Wish I waited for Prime day though, probably would have gone for a Fenix 8 if i did. Lovely watch.

Venu 4 is a lovely watch too, but it has its quirks. Venu 2 used to have double tap to wake, 4 is one tap - so I get lots of random screen turn ons when my arms are doing their own thing. The gesture to wake sensitivity is also too high and not configurable (unlike the 2) so the screen would turn on far too much when it shouldn't.

Other than that, I love all the stats.

I got the Venu 2 and the screen is sometimes slow to light up….good to know it is double tap

Garmin has announced its first screen-free fitness tracker called the CIRQA Smart Band. Unlike similar alternatives in the market, Garmin’s offering does not require a subscription to access advanced fitness and wellness features.

The Garmin CIRQA Smart Band is claimed to deliver up to 10 days of battery life from a single charge even with 24/7 health monitoring.

It features a fiber-reinforced polymer case with a fabric strap and can be worn around the wrist or the arm. The module weighs 14.8 grams and gets a 5ATM rating.

As for health and fitness tracking, the smart band supports around 80 activities including running, walking, swimming, and more. There’s also a side button available on the module that can be assigned to an activity.

The fitness band can also track sleep, VO2 max, HRV Status, Pulse Oxygen, stress, skin temperature, and more. There’s also Body Battery energy monitoring available and all the data can be accessed via the Garmin Connect app.
