South Africa on the brink of major Wi-Fi upgrade

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa's (ICASA) approval of the lower 6GHz band for standard power operation is imminent, which will position the country as a global telecoms leader.

That is according to Paul Colmer of the Wireless Access Providers' Association (WAPA), who told Wi-Fi Now that the band's Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) system was already in place.

We don't need backward technology like Starlink as we keep leading the way on our own. Other African countries require that shoddy product but we don't.
