Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

I am seeing the same thing. It seems like congestion. I don`t know why, but this happens a lot more often then i thought. Starting to grow tired of this.

I'm about to cancel my account and move all my services. I'm fed up with the service over the past month. Every night/even now I'm experiencing packet loss, YouTube buffering, DStv Stream buffering, and packet loss while gaming. I've also compared this with other people in the same area using OpenServe on different ISPs. Speedtests are fine.

Hi,

I am sorry to hear about your experience and completely understand your frustration.

Could you please share your previous ticket numbers (or send us your account details via DM)? We would like to review the history and investigate this further.

Hey everyone,

Can someone help me, from their own experience please.
If I cancel my Fibre with Afrihost (OpenServe) and want to move to another ISP.
Does Afrihost move the line into a holding pool? So the new ISP can pick it up without having to reinstall the ONT and Optic?
The new ISP would only need the OpenServe B line number.

Hi.
Yes, once an Openserve line has been released, it goes into the holding pool.
It used to be up to 15 days, I am not sure about the period now.

Thank you, So I proceed with normal cancellation on ClientZone?
There is no option I need to select for holding pool/transfer?

Can Afrihost release the line earlier? Once cancellation processed.
I was hoping to move by August, but ClientZone says September.

No, there is no option for that. It's an Openserve process, so by default the service lands in the holding pool after cancellation.
You still need to serve the 30-day notice; that is why the cancellation is effective as of the 01st of September.

Speedtests don't show the whole picture, could be the node in your area is congested which won't be fixed when you switch ISP's.

Best is to compare apples to apples, you say there is packet loss, get someone in the area to run WinMTR to the same IP and time as you, then compare.
