The official running thread™

I love them. Did every kind of run in them including a 16km long run. Definitely prefer the feel over the Novablast 5 which feels too soft for me.

I did opt for the GRVL version though. I liked it so much that I got 3 more backup pairs.

For paces faster than 4:00/km it might be a bit bulky for most. Although it felt fine for me when I did sprints in them too.
I'm nowhere near that yet

Thanks, I think I'm getting myself a pair or Aero Glides then 😁 Watched a lot of reviews and the sentiment is pretty positive.

I was wrong. I did a half in the GRVL version. The 16K was my first ever run in the normal road version and my first run back after being sick (which resulted in my knee issue, but that was not the shoe. It was me being stupid doing too much too quickly).

The GRVl has more rubber and should last longer, but is warmer.

If you can't source some locally, Takealot still has them at R1999 in your size

Might even drop a couple of bucks tomorrow for FNB day. Think lowest I've seen was R1899.

I don't think anyone has sum up the running journey better than this guy did. (It's on FB, so open in Incognito and just dismiss the log in prompt.)

lmao, it's quite accurate. I started with stage 6 now  Half marathon. I just bought my left and right socks. The goal is full marathon though.

In the last 12 weeks, I have broken my Roodepoort Parkrun PB 6 times, and my overall Parkrun PB once. My previous PBs (overall and Roodepoort) were 8 years ago. I don't know what suddenly changed.
Did it again. I did my 550th parkrun, and 350th at Roodepoort, and managed a Parkrun PB (26:41), and that on a pretty hilly course.

Yup. There were quite a few of those that hit way too close to home. I mean I'm disappointed that certain socks aren't L/R now ;)

Anyone familiar with Gilnokie socks? (Had to check I spelled it right).

I bought a couple of pairs to try out and so far I'm quite impressed. I like the texture and padding they offer. They're softer than Versus socks and they feel much better too. Not sure if they'll replace my favourite Falke Stride socks though, but they are on par to those.

I'm wondering about their longevity though. Quality seems good.

I am. To be honest, I prefer them over some others because of the comfort they provide over longer runs. Been to their manufacturing plant and its cool to see how its done. On site shop has a large range on offer.

I had very bad experience with socks causing blisters for me so i stick with Balega or Falke.

I also have some New Balance performance socks which i loved but they never lasted very long and became quite loose

The Balega socks are superior imho. Love the blister resist which feel great on the feet.

I have a few different ones and the ones i use the most are the comfort range i think. They feel very thick but my feet don't sweat in them its weird  . They okay to run in but wearing them around the house i am just like NOPE

Yeah, I can definitely see these being an additional favourite. Definitely prefer them to Versus and Sox. I also like that they offer large selection of plain colours.

So far haven't had any blister issues at all with them. Although it's early days yet.

Only downside is that that after a few washes the Falke has some pilling.

I haven't tried Balega yet. Are they worth the price? Since they seem extra pricy.

I get blisters with my Falke ankle socks, but I think it's because of the way the back of the ankle lip thing rubs my achilles. I now bought 4 pairs of Versus mid calf socks and far it's been great. No blisters.

I have had 0 problems with them. I ran in a pair of Adidas comfy socks i had, used them lots for gym and the blisters i got were so bad.. Could feel chaffing but was about 3km away from my car so did a combo of jogging and walking and it was bad... Took at least a month to fully heal...

I have a pair of Falke and they probably on par.

**Onedayonly often have Falke/Balega fr cheaper

Get them on the sales or they frequently have excess stock sales as well. Didn't think they were very outpriced compared to the Falke socks tho. Definitely worth the money either way

Yea they try clear stock via them. The Falke brand apparnetly is not doing very well financially and are possibly looking at closing in the very near future i hear. I know someone who met with them recently

So you are saying I'd better stock up on Strides while I still can.

I'll definitely look out for some Balega socks on sale to try. Takealot normally has them at R229 vs R125/R150 for the Strides.
